Need help with a non-disney design

My sister is getting ready to go to a National cheerleading competition and I wanted to make shirts for us to wear that say Bethany’s mom, sister and so forth, I have downloaded photo impact and I have tried to design something but I cannot seem to figure it out, does anyone have any advice or tips.
