Can anyone help me? I am looking for the name of a song. I'm really not even sure of the artist. When I was younger, my mom use to play this song all the time. It was about a mother and daughter. All I remember of it is at the end of the song the daughter says.....I love you mommy...and the mom says.....I love you too darling..... Anyone recognize it? I would ask my mom, but then she'll be wondering why I want to know. It's a surprise. When I get married I would like to play it at the wedding for her and I! Thanks for all your help! :sunny:

Is it Hellen Reddy you and me against the world? :confused3

These are the lyrics to the song Angel posted:

You and me against the world
Sometimes it feels like you and me against the world
When all the others turn their back and walk away
You can count on me to stay

Remember when the circus came to town
And you were frightened by the clown?
Wasn't it nice to be around someone that you knew?
Someone who was big and strong and looking out for

You and me against the world
Sometimes it feels like you and me against the world
And for all the times we've cried I always felt that
The odds were on our side

And when one of us is gone
And one of us is left to carry on
Then remembering will have to do
Our memories alone will get us through
Think about the days of me and you
Of you and me against the world

Remember when the circus came to town
And you were frightened by the clown?
Wasn't it nice to be around someone that you knew?
Someone who was big and strong and looking out for

You and me against the world
Sometimes it feels like you and me against the world
And for all the times we've cried I always felt that
The odds were on our side

And when one of us is gone
And one of us is left to carry on
Then remembering will have to do
Our memories alone will get us through
Think about the days of me and you
Of you and me against the world
You and me against the world
You and me against the world

Beautiful lyrics - they take on a different sentiment when you are a mom at 41 vs. singing into your hairbrush in your pink bedroom when you were about 8 years old. Thanks for the memory:goodvibes

That brought a tear to my eye!! Congratulations!

I remember that as a child too. I think in the beginning the child says, "Can you sing it again., Mommy?" or something like that.

My mom would say, "That's our song!" but I didn't really understand the meaning until much later.

if you can give me one line of it. Is it a mother daughter song or ...

:goodvibes:

my aunt used to sing this to me when I was little. My biological mother had passed away and she was taking care of me. She was only 16 and was pregnant at the time and I was the only one who knew (for about 6months that is). I don't remember it b/c I was only a few months old, but she has shared that story with me many times and it is such a special song to both of us.

I don't want to misrepresent myself - I am a mom....and I'm 41. My kids are 4 and 5. I hope my words were still "tear worthy"

YEP sweet angel GOT IT !!!!!!!

A girl at work knew it just by the line "sing it again mommy"!!!!! She is a trivia QUEEN!!   She said it was Helen's daughter that sang it too.

SOOOO here it is with the daughter too !!!!!!

YES!! That is it! Thank you everyone sooo much for your help! Do you think playing that song at my wedding (as a surprise) is a good idea? I won't be dancing to a song with my dad (loser....another story!) so I wanted to do a dance with my mom (as a surprise). Good choice of a song or should I choose another? Thanks again for all your help! :sunny:

Can't beat one with memories like that! Go for it!

And I just went to one where they did something I had never seen. They got the grandmother of the bride and had her sit in a chair in the middle of the dance floor, then they had all that family and the groom... dance around her, first they annouced her and said to the lady that started it all and a bog thank you to her etc. It was touching! Great for people with gmom still around.

Awe! That is really something cute! Thankfully my gmom is still around! I was definatley thinking of doing something special for her also. Good idea!
