I booked charactor dining for breakfast that morning. Ohana's was the only one has openings. But I am also want to do other things during the day or at night.

I read about getting the hotel make the morning call; get the birthday button, etc. I don't remember from where, but I also read about renting a private boat that night to see the fireworks.

Want to see if anyone had planned any parties for 6 year old boy at WDW before.

It will be us with 2 boys (the other one is 4) and grandma and grandpa.

Thanks a lot!!

Anything at Disney is nice for a birthday. Maybe you should ask to ride in the front of the monorail, rent a Mickey Mouse boat or a fireworks cruise. I think theres a whole lot of stuff that you can come up with.

Mickey Mouse boat looks like a fun idea. It's been 10 years since dh and I had our first disney trip before the kids. So I have not even heard of any of these things. :) Do you have any links that I can check them out?

Thanks a lot!!!

We celebrated our DS 5th birthday in WDW in November. Here's the list of what we did :)

Breakfast at Chef Mickey's - pictures as you go in & sing Happy Birthday

Crystal Palace - Bday certificate signed by characters & parade through restaurant section

Fireworks cruise from Grand Floridian to see Wishes. Expensive, but there is somewhere on the disboards to share rides. This was also our treat because it was our anniversary.

Rode in front of monorail. Amazing heading into Epcot.

Told every restaurant it was his bday....bday cupcakes & sing Happy Bday

Made sure all characters at meet & greets knew it was his bday - lots of bday wishes in his autograph book

Pirate cruise from Grand Floridian

Passport from Epcot has Happy Birthday written in many languages from the Kidcot stops.

Haircut at barber shop on Main Street in MK - blue mohawk

Made sure his birthday was mentioned everywhere on our reservations

Mentioned his birthday at check-in. Mickey left an autographed picture in our room with bday wishes.

Each morning when he woke up, Mickey had done/left something - left Mickey ears w/ his name & autograph book, Mickey plate/bowl/cup for breakfast (we ate bfast in our room), Mickey bday shirt, Mickey PJs, decorated room with theme for next day (pirate stuff for pirate cruise day, animal stuff for AK day, etc...), Bday cards, etc....

He wore his bday button the whole week. We would have celebrated for a week at home, so I figured why not! It was great. He can be very shy. At the beginning of the week, when everyone was wishing him happy birthday, I had to poke him to say thank you. By the end of the week, he was saying thank you without me & actually wishing other people happy birthday if he saw their button.

I am trying to figure out how to go back for his 6th :thumbsup2

I just checked the firework cruise. We will do that! I will try to see if I can find any other family to share, but will do it anyway!

I will try all of your other ideas too. It might be dumb to ask -- but you did all those those Mickey did every morning, right? Or was there a service that you pay someone to do it? :yay:

Also, do you think it will be OK to wear the Birthday button for the entire week? DS will LOVE to do it if it's allowed!!! His birthday is actually the last day of our land portion.

Thanks again for your reply!!

we went for ds7's birthday last summer, and we ate at the Coral Reef for his bday lunch (he's really into fishing, etc). We asked for a window seat for his bday, and had to wait for one, but it was so worth it. We did the Jedi training at Hollywood Studios, and he and dd were luckily picked. They fight darth vadar. That was really awesome!!!!! He and dh did a bass fishing excursion from the Contemporary marina one morning - he loved that! They also went parasailing that day from that marina - they went up together and dh was very, very impressed w/ how high they go and how safe it was. DS was in little boy heaven!!!

Other things ds has really enjoyed over the past few years there was when we stayed in the cabins at Ft. Wilderness - his favorite part of that trip was driving around in the golf cart we rented and going to every playground there, and "alligator hunting" (just trying to spot any over the waterways), and lizard hunting at the campground, and cane-pole fishing. And the nighttime movie w/ chip and dale (although we missed chip and dale - got there too late), but roasting marshmallows and watching the movie outside.

The Mickey boats are 'water mice' (kind of like jet skiis i think but enclosed on the sides???). DH and ds have done them a few times (dd and I were always in a park). And we concentrated on all of ds's fav rides of course. That really made his day!

have fun planning and hope he enjoys!!

Not quite sure how to do that copy text to response thing...maybe this will work???

Yes, it was me & DH doing those things :wizard: It was actually pretty easy. I found the animal & pirate cut outs at the dollar store. Took blue sticky stuff & stuck it up on the walls. DS was knocked out by the time we got back to the hotel each night, so no worries about making noise. The plate, bowl & cup set came from Target. I set them out on the table with a note from Mickey. The PJs & birthday shirt came from disneyshopping.com. Waited for a good sale! I personalized the shirt on their you-make-it section.

We also had a Disney birthday banner. Some disney website will let you print it out for free. Cut it out at home & put it up with the blue sticky stuff.

And yes, I hauled all of this in our suitcases on the plane :rotfl:

The personalized Mickey ears & autograph book did come from the Disney florist. I ordered ahead of time online. They delivered once we checked in. It was like magic because DH & DS had gone to swim & when they came back, Mickey had been there!

The dollar stores have some great cheap Disney stuff.

There is another Disney site that will do phone calls from different characters. I had a Mickey call made the morning of his bday party at home, prior to our trip. disneyenchantedcalls.com

Mickey also sent him things in the months up to our trip. I had a friend going to WDW in July & put together a package for her to mail. Things also just magically appeared in the mail (luckily, he doesn't know about postmarks yet!)

I am sure there is probably some service out there that would do things for you, but you'd probably pay through the nose

Have a magical time!

DS's birthday was the next to last day of our trip. He wore it the whole 9 days we were there. No one ever questioned the button. It was just great magical fun!
