ok so we've been watching southwest...we already got our flight down (from pittsburgh) so i'm watching for from orlando to home. find a decent price $109...change the amount of people to 5 and the fight goes up to $139...WTH ??? anyone else hv this issue ??:confused3

Yup, there are only a certain number of seats at each price. Try moving it down to four and see if it goes down. There probably are just not five seats available at that price. It's very common on every airline.

would it be safe to just try to book them all separtely at the lower price ?? i'm all paranoid one of us wont get on

Check and see how many you can get at the lower price. Start like the pp said. Put 4 in and see if you can get them at the lower price. If you can book them, then just pay a bit more for the last ticket.

Well if you can't get five seats, then you'll still have your credit for the next flight.

I'm not too happy either, I'm still looking for a return flight and it keeps going up and up... Some days it's up $50 from the day before, then it'll drop back $40 the next day. But it's either the really early 6am flight or the really late getting in at midnight flight. Neither one of them is that great, but the other times are over $200.

The cheap seats are already gone from the other times.

My preferred time for leaving home is around 10-11 AM even though I don't get to the parks before late afternoon. Going home I try for the last flight even if it gets in at midnight.

Midnight is not fun when there's still an hour and a half to two hour highway drive afterwards.

Flying in, my flight got bumped 4 hours. Then the connecting flight got bumped to leave 2 hours after my flight arrived. So I didn't get in till 12:30, but it was only about a 20-30 minute drive.

Yes, you'll be fine. I had to do this for a LV ticket. It wouldn't allow 4 at the same price, so I did 2 separate transactions of 2 tickets and got this discounted price.

OMG... cause of this topic, I decided to have a looksie again at prices.

Finally found a middle of the day flight, well 9am to 1pm for $99. And it's on July 4th, which I figured would've been a lot higher than afterwards. At least it's still early enough to get in and see some night time fireworks and such.

I wouldn't count on this. I've tried on several occassions and NEVER been able to get the lower price if I haven't been able to by putting in the full # of people - the price has ALWAYS gone up after the first ticket is purchased. It's worth a try - but be prepared to pay more for the last couple/few flights booked.

I wouldn't count on that. When you start booking each ticket individually, you can end up bumping up the next ticket price.

Well booking 4 at the discounted price with 1 bumped a little higher is still cheaper than paying all 5 at the higher price.

Open two windows with two browsers (like google chrome and firefox). Pull up the flight with the tickets for four in one and the ticket for 1 in the other. Fill out both sets of information (preferably using two different cards, or your CC might think it's stolen). Then submit each page right after each other.

Did this with Usairways 2 days ago. I needed 8 airfares but only 6 were available at the lowest price. I opened 2 browser and did as they stated above. The 2 transaction went throug at the lower rate therefor I got the 8 airfares at $210 instead of $248 My guess it worked because by the time the figure the low airfare is not available it too late in the process of the second transaction as you already have choosen seats for each flight and they alreayd quote you the price.

This doesn't work either. Just did it last week....price for a r/t ticket from BUF-LAS was $409. My friend and I were on the phone and decided to pull the trigger and buy as we have been watching these prices for months. We both 'walked' through the buying process at the same time on the phone. I clicked 'purchase' first and got my confirmation. My friend went to hit purchase a few seconds later and hers bumped up to $430. The computer KNOWS that you're trying to do this and who clicks the button first.

Yes this is a problem. We try getting 6 tickets and it's tough. Once we tried getting them all separate, and ended up having to split up and fly two different flights. Some times it says "Only one-two at this price." and it appears to be true.

The law of supply and demand. As supply goes down, demand goes up and so does the price.

It happens with ALL airlines, not just SWA.

I hear you. I was going to book our Nov. flight for my family and my parents. I booked ours, but not my parents, at their request. I booked 2 days ago, my parents haven't booked yet. I just checked and tickets are up over $150 from Philly to Orlando!!!! Up over $150!!!!! ONE WAY!!!!!!

We paid $132 one-way and that same flight, lowest price is over $300...ONE WAY.

Eek. If I had that situation I would just budget for a "just in case" hotel at the airport. We're only half an hour away from the airport and that can feel long enough late at night, let alone 2 hours!

Well there's some family friends that literally live 5 minutes from the terminal, and they have offered to let me stay the night if I have an early morning or late night flight. But midnight is a bit later than I'd like to keep any one up.

I'm happy though, I managed to book a 9am-1pm flight on July 4th. I'm thinking of staying in the city to see the fireworks and such. Last year was rather dull and boring without a good firework show, but nothing compares to Disney's.
