Need Help w/ NYC

I was thinking about suprising my dh and 5yoa dd with a weekend trip to NYC.

I would really like to go to the Christmas show at Radio City Music Hall, but the tickets that are left through ticketmaster are over $100. Am I doing things the newbie way? There has got to be away to get cheaper tickets with all of the ticket booths and websites out there. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Also, if I were going to Priceline a hotel which area should I pick that is closest to Toys r Us, FAO, Macy's , Rockafellar Center, or any other kid friendly things to do. Are there any great websites for first timers?

bumping this up as I would like to know as well. We already have tickets for Radio City Christmas Spectacular for November 20th but would be open to going up on November 19th so we could spend more time up there!!

As far as Hotel, all the things mentioned are in midtown, and all within walking distance of each other, except Macy's to FAO, that would be a bit of a long walk as Macy's is down on 34th. My company suscribes to a service called Working Advantage and I have gotten discounted Radio City tix through them. Check with your HR. Not sure if the TCKTS booth sells Radio City, but those tix are all same day, but a great way to see a broadway play. It's located right in Times Square near the Marriot.
If you have sports fans, you might want to check out the ESPN Zone too.
Oh don't forget the Knicks and Rangers play at MSG.

I had gotten a postcard in the mail with specials but seemed to have misplaced it. But I did find the one I got for Peter Pan for orchestra seats only $49.
