Hi! This is my first time posting on this board, but I just know that I have come to the right place to get some answers.

For the past several years I have been making white and dark chocolate covered pretzels to give as gifts for Christmas. Well, this year there's been a snag in my present plans. I have been using the huge 5lb box of white Ghiardelli's chocolate from Sam's Club, well, this year my Sam's decided not to carry the chocolate. Now I am at a loss.

I need a comparable white chocolate. Can someone please help?

Thanks,
Melissa

I find that for pretzels, the white coating that you get at the grocery store is just fine. It's the stuff that comes in a one pound package and the wrapper says something like, "for making Almond Bark". It's very inexpensive and melts just like premium white chocolate. I only recomend the white, though. The "chocolate" is pretty nasty. Stick to the real thing on that one.

if you have a Micheals Crafts store or AC Moore arts and crafts near you they sell different colres and flavors of melting chocolate.

Get Ghirardelli white chocolate chips...most grocery stores have them. Unfortunately it will probably cost you more than it did before...but keep an eye out for sales. The best price I've seen recently for Ghirardelli chips is $1.99...but in previous years I've caught them on sale for as little as $1.

I have to say...one bag of chips goes pretty far!

The white almond bark should work well for the pretzels. White chocolate chips would probably have a richer flavor.

I use a Cook's Essentials chocolate melting pot and use the almond bark for pretzels too and it works great. We made a batch just last night of the christmas tree molds, but used chocolate chips. We give these as gifts to DD's additional teachers because I just can't afford to buy for literally 12 different teachers (church, school, lessons, etc.) These gifts are always a hit. Tip: great packaging ideas can be found at the Dollar Tree.
