I need help choosing an arrival dinner. I have 3 young boys and me. Can be anywhere except in a park since we won't have admission on arrival day. Table service - would love characters but not the end all, be all.

I had thought 1900 Park Fare would be fun, but I worry with boys that the magic of Cinderella will be kinda lost on them. We are doing Ohana on departure day for breakfast.

I have 4 kids, 3 boys and 1 girl. On our departure day we went to Whispering Canyon Cafe and loved it!! The play silly antics and have pony stick races. It was a blast and the food was sooo delicious!!

Where are you staying? I usually try to eat at whatever resort we are staying at (we usually stay Deluxe)...if you are staying at a moderate or value resort than maybe plan to do Disney Springs on arrival day and get reservations for either TREX or Rainforest. My boys loved those places. If you want to do Character don't be discouraged at 1900 Park Fare. My boys love that dinner. The step sisters and step mother are super funny and my kids loved them. You can also try Whispering Canyon - its not characters but its a ton of fun. Or maybe do 1 of the dinner shows. Mickey's Backyard BBQ is a TON of fun.

I would choose Whispering Canyon Cafe (fun games/tricks) or maybe T-Rex (loud, but tons of dinosaurs). Your options for character meals outside of a park are Chef Mickey (gone downhill) or 1900 PF.

We're staying at POP and planning to be at Ft Wilderness that night for the Campfire sing-along with Chip/Dale, so Whispering Canyon is fairly high on my short list since they're similar in theme. They are meeting Chip and Dale that night, so missing out on characters wouldn't be the end of the world and I may actually be relieved to drop a buffet since it is me and the three. Any dishes to avoid there? Also, easiest transportation methods?

For T-Rex, is the meteor shower super-loud? If so, it may not work out for my sensory baby.

Yes, T-Rex is super loud, so probably not good for your child. It sounds like WCC would be just perfect since you'll be in the area anyway and WL is so stunning!

Great! What's the easiest way to get from Wilderness Lodge to Fort Wilderness?

with 3 young boys and you I would NOT do a buffet. You will spend your whole time dishing up food and serving it to them. I would go somewhere that is a menu service or at least family style. there have been some good suggestions here. The Garden Grove at the swan supposedly has characters in the evening as well but I don't know more than that about it.

My 3 boys LOVED 1900 Park Fare. One of my favorite pics ever is the 3 of them full belly laughing with the step sisters!

TREX is Super loud, but Whispering Canyon is also loud (not as loud as TREX)...just thought I would mention that as well. My older son who is on the spectrum had trouble there...he started out ok, but then with the consistent loudness going on he couldn't handle it. The 1 good thing about Whispering Canyon that really saved us, was they have lincoln logs set up at the front of the restaurant (its not as loud there), and after my son ate he was able to escape sort of speak and go off in the corner and put himself into his little bubble and play with the lincoln logs. Whispering Canyon is a lot of fun, but I was shocked at how loud it was when we first went in there. Its really easy to get to Ft Wilderness from there you just need to take a boat. I might also suggest since you are going to be at Ft Wilderness that you consider Trails End since its there. I haven't eaten there personally but I heard its a nice place to eat and when we visited ft wilderness last year for the BBQ there was a line waiting to get into Trails End. It may also be a quieter place to go if loud places are an issue.

I looked at Trail's End too, but I think we're going to attempt Whispering Canyon. My sensory baby will be just short of 7 and he's more likely to be upset by sudden, loud noises than loud, constant noise. His other thing is being touched by strangers, so I will simply request minimal antics and no touching him, plus we'll bring his earphones in case it gets to be too much for him.
