Need help w/anniversary restaurant

DH and I will be celebrating our 24th anniversary in early January and I want to make a special evening of it. We're looking for something nice but not in the V&A range. I'm currently considering Palio or Citricos. DH is a meat and potatoes guy and I'd like a little romance. Any suggestions?

I've done both CA Grill and Artist Point. Artist Point has a deeper, richer, decor (befitting of Wilderness Lodge) whereas CA Grill is more neo-modern. The food at both of them was wonderful - Artist Point probably has more of the "meat/potato" selection (the buffalo steak was awesome!), and CA Grill was more "frou-frou" - although very satisfying frou-frou at that, so your husband wouldn't be disappointed. I think it depends on the atmosphere you prefer. Both would be great choices, in my opinion.

Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe I could describe the two of us. For DH the ultimate in dining consists of a great steak, potatoes and good beer. Ratatoullie, pate, and en soupcon of anything are not on the list. I don't care, I love everything (and have the figure to prove it!) but I'd like a nice atmosphere, something romantic. It'll be our 24th anniversary night. We live the other 51 weeks with jobs, 2 teenagers and a live-in FIL with Alzheimers. I want a soulful conversation over dessert (good dessert is important) and coffee, I deserve it. How's the atmosphere at the California Grille? Is the lounge open late? Am I obsessing?

PS: I was attracted to Palio by the promise of strolling violinists, the proximity of Kimonos and for (for DH) spaghetti. Is there anyone out there who's eaten here?

We are pretty much meat & potatos too and we celebrated our last anniversary with a wonderful meal at Yachtsman Steakhouse. Everything was amazing!

We just had dinner at Citrico's for our long anniversary weekend, it was very nice.

If your hubby is a meat/potatoes guy I would definately recommend artist point over at Wilderness Lodge. This is one of our favorites as far as wonderful meals/great atmosphere..and we make the romance..lol.

We ate at Palio's a few months ago. The lobster tortellini is very good and a huge portion. But the night we were there, the strolling violinists were not. At least not in the hour and a half that we were eating. So, don't let the musicians be the ultimate decision maker. Have fun!

I would recommend the Yachtsman Steakhouse. We had the first dinner of our honeymoon there, and found it very romantic! Our waitor even brought me a long-stemmed red rose. You can ask the host to seat you near Storm-a-long Bay, which will give you a water view. There are tons of meat and potatoes options for your husband, and some fun things too, like seafood options and a vegetarian meal. Afterward (of before) you could catch a bit of Illuminations on the Y&BC beach!

I would also second the recommendation for Yachtsmens Steakhouse. It is the perfect place for a meat and potatoes lover and it is an elegant and somewhat intimate atmosphere. I love California Grill as well but the menu is very gourmet and will probably not be to your husbands liking at all. In addition to that, if you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner, California Grill is one of the noisiest restaurants in WDW. It is a huge, wide open restaurant with an open kitchen. It's a great place to be if you are lucky enough to have a table by the window during the fireworks, but other than that, it is not my idea of a romantic atmosphere at all.

We've had great romantic dinners at Palio, Narcoosees and Artist Point, as well as at Shulas. The best thing about Palio and Shulas are the dimmer lights and quiet atmosphere lend themselves to being quiet and romantic. Narcoosees and Artist Point are great food and not as rushed or noisy as California Grill (unless you can get seated in their wine room).

Citricos is the best!!! Unless its a monday or tue, as they're closed those days.

Artist Point, for sure!!! Sounds like a good fit for what you are looking for. We absolutely love it there, and they have awesome dessert!! Artist Point Berry Cobbler...YUMMY!!!

Aside from the food being great, the tables are more spread out and it is much more quiet than the California Grill. We like the CG, and the food was good, but the tables were close together and it was noisy.

Check out the menus on Deb's site , but I'm sure Artist Point won't disappoint!!
