Need Help w/ Adding another Contract with UY

I am looking to add on a small amount of points to one of my existing contracts. While I know keeping the UY would be nice if I wanted to basically combine the two contracts to one, I'm not sure it is really needed, but looking to see if I'm missing something. I know I could get direct to keep the same UY but I don't see a need to pay the higher priced direct vs going resale for the add-on.

My current UY is April and the add-on I found in the point range I'm looking at is August. Since the 11 month window for home resort (where I'd usually stay and usually book at 11 month window) goes on where you own vs use year, is there any downside by having these two contracts at the same resort with different UY's? I would be using the current points and the add on likely for the same trip. We travel 90% of the time Sept - Jan. So already if I'm going I'm not cutting close to the deadline with the window of canceling a trip.

And, for ease when I'm making the reservation to not have to book two reservations using each contract, I'm assuming prior to when I want to book I am able to just call up member services and transfer points from one contract to the other without a fee?

Two UYs is two memberships. So, without the transfer, you have to book two different reservations,

The bigger issue is that you can’t transfer banked points, And, once you transfer, you can’t borrow the points.

The good news is that transferred points do show up online so that is a plus now, You can now book and modify without a call, The only thing I have not yet read is if it works at the 11 month window online.

It seems like it will work, but you will have to basically transfer all points from one to the other each year, and never be able to borrow on whichever contract you do the transferring If you don’t want to do it as two different reservations.

I have two and don’t do the transfer thing, I just book the nights I need and then have MS note it. I have yet to have had to move rooms.

Thank you for the detailed info. For the quoted part, I understand about not transferring banked, but not sure what you mean about borrowing? Is borrowing referring to the acct transferred out of?

I was also thinking of the two reservations like you do, but didn’t want to risk not being able to get entire timeframe at 11 mos window.

Borrowing is when you want to use points from the UY after a trip.

For example, if you wanted to book a Sept 2021 trip, That would be in the 2021 UY for both April and the Aug UY you are considering,

If you needed any 2022 UY points for the trip, you’d only be able to borrow against the membership that was holding both sets of points,

For example, if you transferred the April 2021 UY points into the Aug 2021 UY, you could not borrow any April UY points since those couldn’t be transferred to Aug UY.

If you needed more points, you’d only be able to borrow against Aug UY.

This is only if you wanted to keep it all as one., If you booked in both memberships, then it is a non issue,

I understand what you mean by the 11 month window, but what you could do is book a room on each starting the same day and just walk forward the one for the second half.
