The title may not be what it's called, but I've seen women (and men) wearing a scarf that slips over the head and looks like a turtleneck. You can pull it up to cover your mouth from the wind or just let it lay around your neck for protection. It's incredibly warm. I'm not sure what to call it or where to find it. Anybody know what I'm talking about?

they are called neck gaiters. I have had mine for years, got it from ems. I would think any place like that or rei or llbean would have them. they are WONDERFUL in cold weather!!!!!

I've seen a couple cute ones at etsy.com. They call them something else though. Just look up scarves, and hopefully they will pop out in the pictures.

We call them neck warmers. Places that sell outerwear for skiing have them (scarves can be dangerous, since they can get tangled into the ski lift).

Imzadi's suggestion of checking etsy helped and led me to find this:

Zan Headgear Neck Warmer Black One Size Fits All OSFA WFMFN114

I was able to find it on Amazon with free shipping. Most other sites that had it asked for shipping fees of around $7.

I knew asking on DIS, with its wide audience would get me the answer for which I was looking. Thanks all for the help.

Is it perhaps a Magic Scarf?

They are SO soft and so warm!

We call them neck ups, neck gaiters or neck warmers. Get ones made of fleece; theyr'e the warmest and they're windproof. The ones we use for skiing are made by Turtle Fur. Each company may call them something slightly different.

Saw them at Target today, but they only had 2 left and they were very por quality, the two left had holes in them.

These from the Vermont Country Store could be used as either a turtleneck-scarf or a head-covering scarf.

I picked two fleece ones up at JCP today.

They had a huge selection of colors at my local JCP (and matching gloves were available as well). :)

In this country they are called snoods and as it has been very cold for us some football players (soccer to you) have been waring them during matches, particularly players from wamer countries.

Sounds like something Dr Seuss created! "Snoods" :)
