I may have to take some baby food with me on the plane. Is that allowed since its in a glass container. Do I put them in a baggie or just put them in my backpack? Do you think they will wonder where the baby is since there isn't one? I am the baby. Right now I am on a baby food diet cause of my gastritis and I doubt that my stomach will be well enough by Nov for solid food, much less airport food.

While I haven't yet travelled with my baby, I thought I'd offer what I'm planning on doing in 6 weeks, I'm purposely buying the kind that comes in a plastic container and carrying that, I figure it's easier to carry and less likely to break as well. I believe it's Gerber. Or if it's homemade, tupperware is the way to go. You can bring food on a plane with you so quite honestly, I doubt they'd care enough to ask where the baby is even if they briefly wonder it, but I can't imagine they'd stop you from bringing it onboard. If you're concerned, I'd bring a doctor's note saying it's a medical requirement. Good luck with your recovery.

Baby food would be considered a liquid/gel, so I can see them giving you a hassle about bringing it on board in the absence of a baby.

Nothing I can see in the TSA rules addresses this issue. I know, however, that liquid foods (such as ensure) are allowed on for those who are tube fed, so I suspect a day's worth of baby food would probably be allowed - but I would bring a medical note.

You may want to post on the DISabilities board for more help.

Assume it might be a problem.....make sure you have it in your zip lock bag - then all bases are covered.

Only if each of the jars is less than 3.4oz (I haven't bought baby food in forever, so I'm not sure how big the jars generally are).

Thanks everyone for your advice. What I eat is in the 6 oz jar, so I would have to bring at least 6 small ones to get me by. I will ask the Dr what I can do ,plus get a note also. Anyways thanks again.:thumbsup2

You Dr. should have no problem writing you a note to take with you on your trip. Because it is a medical need it doesn't have to fit in a zip lock bag and it can be more than the 3oz rule. Just be sure to let them know before you go through the chekcpoint, and they may do extra screening on it so maybe give yourself a few extra minutes.
