My 8 year old got sick today and unfortunately did not make it to the bathroom. (Lets hope its not the stomach flu)

It soaked right through the bed sheet into the matterss.

Of course this was the one bed I did not have a mattress pad on.

So any suggestions on how to get rid of the yucky smell?? I soaked it up the best I could and sprayed Febreeze on it. That was the only thing I had to mask the smell... but I dont know if that will be enough.

Sorry for the yucky post!

I wonder if vinegar would neutralize that vomity smell? LOL

But then you'd be left with a mattress that smells like a pickle.

Vodka, it sounds silly, but it works . Just plain vodka sprayed on will take out bad smells. I do wardrobe for theater and we use vodka to spray on the costumes to take out t the stink.

I use pet odor neutralizer. It is an enzyme product you get at the pet store. Works pretty well. I'm going to remember that vodka trick though.

Here's another smell problem. A friend used my coffee butler for...you guessed it coffee. Unfortunately I hate coffee but love my tea. Now if you put tea in the butler it has a taste and smell of coffee. Is there anything that would take the smell of coffee out of it?

Oxiclean! I love the stuff. Another product is something called Miracle II Neutralizer. We have a new puppy in the house, and he had an accident on the carpet. I cleaned it up with my Bissell, but you could still smell a slight urine smell. I sprayed the neutralizer on there, and when I came back a day or two later, I couldn't smell a thing. That's a big thing for me because I have a very sensitive nose.

If you want to find Miracle II products, the best place to look is eBay. You will finds lots on there. Just be sure to check the shipping costs and their feedback before buying. I like the soap, too, but I really love the neutralizer!

Any pet store will have the enzyme neutralizer, no need to buy from Ebay. Nature's Miracle and Simple Solution are just two brands. They will get rid of the residue from any sort of biological mess. In the meantime, spray the spot with Lysol spray to keep it from getting too funky.
Try baking soda for the coffee butler. Hot water and a few tablspoons of baking soda, let it sit for a while, then wash with soap and water.

Miracle II Neutralizer is not an enzyme treatment.
