Aloha

Steve

OK, ha ha, April Fools right?

But in case you're serious.... Dolphin.;)

Thanks.

So any reason why Dolphin?

Steve--I'm not biting either. Repost tomorrow and you'll get more replies.

I am serious. The pool is too crowded the place is run down and over priced. It looks way to 70's. I feel like I am in an old Brady Bunch show. I can't go back there after staying in the real Hawaii.

Ok OK I could not pull it off but I am serious about finding out opinions on the Swan and Dolphin. We are going in July and are going to stay in one or the other before we switch over to the Polynesian.

So what are some opinions?

Aloha

Steve

You had me worried for a moment. I thought you'd been seduced by the Dark Side of the Force...

Even if it were all true you'd never see it that way.:)

For the benefit of other people reading this thread:

Dolphin--closer to the theme pool, better restuarant selections BUT has the convention center (more business guests) and has double beds (a few Kings)

Swan--smaller, queen beds and some king beds. All of the rooms in the Swan are renovated but by summer I suspect most of the Dolphin will be renovated. Swan tends to be $10 more.

Which one has suites. The money is not the issue since we get the room for free (Starwood points) and we usually get an upgrade if available.

Thanks for the info.

...Even though I'm weak from surgery a week ago...and trying to rest & mend, I truly COULD NOT believe you Steve! (RE: I am serious. The pool is too crowded the place is run down and over priced. Sorry...when I saw this post, I had to try to refrain from laughing too hard. I just HAD to reply. Going to rest now....take care, and enjoy the POLY & the SWAN/DOLPHIN!! :teeth:

Are you going to create a dedicated site like the one you have for the POLY?, (for the SWAN/DOLPHIN?) I LOVE your POLY site, and enjoy visiting to read the guest book, and browse the updates!

Happy SPRING to you STEVE!

TTFN...DF99 :wave2:

Thanks dreamflight99

I cannot imagine doing another page like the Polynesian one. If I did it would be on the AKL.

Hope you do better soon

Aloha

Steve

We have stayed at the Swan before and are staying at the Dolphin for the first time in July. There are not a lot of decernable differences between the two other then size (Dolphin is twice the size)and how far you have to walk in terms of shared services. Tubbies (24 hr snacks), grotto pool and laundry services are located in the Dolphin.
Dolpin tends to be a few dollars less. We love the location of both!!

LAUGHING! Ahh Steve.. there is no Disney Magic there! You'd hate it!

PS.. I am wanting to combine the Swan with AKL, perhaps we can add a volcano pool, and a view of the castle, along with a Brady bunch theme for the perfect resort? We could have OhanaJikiopalio as the themed restaurant!

Booked the Swan because they could guarantee a king size bed. It was $10 more a night than Dolphin, but i think thats because all rooms were renovated. And they are tricky like that, we were only guaranteed the king in the Swan because they charged more! There was no guarantee at the Dolphin.

Steve.... well I guess since you really want to know, I like the Dolphin because it is bigger and grander.... and I'm a bigger and grander kind of gal!!
:jumping1:

Steve, you forgot the horror of not having a hot tub at the Poly!!! Who can blame you for not going back. Hey if you have to look at dark 70s Brady Bunch decor you at least want to do it from a hot tub.
When will you be there? We are there 7/21-25:cool1:

I'm the holdout. I prefer the Swan. Smaller, easier to get in and out of. Yet still close to the Dolphin. Down the elevator, out the back door and you are at Tubbi's in a couple of minutes. I bet it takes me less time than the people staying on the other end of the Dolphin!

Hey you know I posted somewhere else that the new manager at the Polynesian has been talking about getting a hot tub. I dont expect it anytime soon but they are considering it.

Aloha

Steve

LOL! Then the Poly truly will have it all.

Oh and to answer your original question, weve never stayed at the Dolphin, but we stayed at the Swan for the first time last Dec and we were very happy with it.

Steve,
We will be staying at the Swan for the first time next week (after a couple of nights at our regular haunt, the Polynesian :) ). We have stayed at the Dolphin a couple of times and decided to try the Swan this time. I will be happy to post my thoughts when we get back if you still need any info.
Mike

PS Glad that you decided to keep your site going! We are normally fortunate enough to stay concierge, but could not get rooms for this trip, so I was very glad to be able to cruise on over to your site for a refresher on the other buildings.
