Anyone have advice on how NOT to lose your toddler's lovey during your WDW trip??? DD has a stuffed dog that comes EVERYWHERE with us and I'm terrified of losing it. (I have looked everwhere for a 2nd one- with no luck- it was a gift). I'm trying to find a way to tie it to either DD or her stroller :) He's only gotten away from us once and DH found him but I don't want a repeat performance in a place as large as Disney. I was also thinking of putting some kind of ID tag on him but do you think someone would actually return it? Personally, if it didn't belong to us- I would touch the thing. It looks like it's been through the war :) (yes, I wash it- it just never really comes clean!)

could you buy a small collar and leash for it and attach the handle end of the leash to the stroller?

Babies R Us and other baby stores have straps that you can attatch to toys and then to the stroller, that would work for a lovie.

I like the PP's idea about a "dog leash" you can find some really cute ones for stuffies at build a bear workshop.

Have a great trip.

Another option is one of the "camping" clamps that hikers use. You could affix the ring to the aforementioned lovey, then the clamp can clip to the stroller, diaper bag, belt loop, etc. lots of possibilities, and they come in some cool colors!

Thanks DISers...hadn't thought of Build-A-Bear...nor have I seen those straps at Babies R US. I had thought of the dog collar and leash.

My DD still has her Bitty Baby, Julia go everywhere with us. She is 10 but since she was having so many tests and procedures in the last year at Children's Hospital she is SOOOOOO attached to it still. We bought a backpack and carrier for the trips. Well, DD brings her to WDW every year. She wears her in a backpack. That way, she is always with her but hands off. This year, we convinced her Julia stays in the room during the day. I just thought I would share the backpack idea. Sorry so long. :thumbsup2

My DD5 has a beanie sized Bear in the Big Blue House that has gone everywhere with us since she was only one, including dozens of trips to DLR in CA. We use the baby links as a "necklace" so when we're on rides it can be connected to a belt loop or hip pouch.

Incidently, Bear got left in a DLR bathroom last year. We went back within five minutes but he was already gone. I went to Lost and Found and filled out a report. We checked back about four times and no luck. About four days later, he showed up at the house via US mail in a bubble envelope with a little note inside saying how much he enjoyed his adventure in Disneyland.

DD told everyone for months about Bear spending the night at Disneyland. She still thinks it's really funny a year later.

We took DS's lovey (a small dog) when he was 17mo and I was petrified of him tossing it out.

I got a dog tag engraved at the pet store ($2) w/ our last name and cell ph's. I also put one on DS's shoe laces. I bought a small collar and put it on the dog w/ the tag.

At Disney I bought one of the bottle holder lanyards and used that to secure the lovey. The lanyards are available at virtually any kiosk selling water and probabaly at the resort. There is an adjustable loop at the end that can go probably 6inches wide and then cinch up as tight as you need. Worked great and easy to affix to a stroller bar.

I just looked at some online places that sell Disney park stuff and they had a different water bottle holder so not sure if they still sell the old one... :confused3 but a small leash as others said would work well.

DD7 has a very beat up old Teddy bear that she takes with us whenever we are out of town. Pink Bear doesn't leave the hotel room, but we got her a pet tag "just in case".

We got the tag at Petsmart from the engrave-it-yourself machine. We engraved it with PLEASE RETURN- VERY PRECIOUS BEAR!!! and our cellphone number and resort name. DD felt that her Pinky was safer, and we weren't as worried about it getting lost or thrown away. Pinky still wears her tag on a chain around her neck.

Just be careful that the collars, tags, lanyards, etc, don't pose a choking hazard for a toddler!

There's no way the the stuffed animal could be left in the room?

Ditto the baby links. I use the for everything, shopping bags, diaper bag and connecting all the loveies of my 3 girls. They are great and not a chocking hazard. :thumbsup2

We lost "brown Bear" in MK last trip so I know what you are going thru. Lucky for me, "brown Bear" was a Beanie and TG for Ebay! well Brown Bear came home one day in the mail and had a nice note about how he enjoyed WDW and staying with Mickey.

Take a photo of the doggie and carry it with you to ID it at lost and found if you need to. There are probably MANY lost loveys and the central Lost and found is a BIG place.

Have fun.

I think people at Disney definitely would - where else do so many people understand kids so well?

I also like the camping link idea (you can get plastic ones made for key chains if the metal camping ones are too heavy for her.) Attach it to a short leash, and that way puppy could be clipped to the stroller or a beltloop as needed.

We use thos baby links from babiesrus or target (the rings that hook together) and hook it to lovey and then to her stroller (stroller belt). Not sure what type of lovey you have since there are so many different ones out there, but if it has a way you can hook a clip to it and attach it to DD's pants or part of the stroller I would do that. Good luck!!

Disney went to great efforts to return 3 of my animals from the laundry once, so Im sure they would return your dog to you. Having an ID tag on it would, I think, make other children more likely to take it to lost and found rather than keeping it (no matter how disgusting it looks to you).

I used a backpack ID tag around "Bun Bun's" neck. I put our hotel and room # along with cell phone# . We mostly kept him in the room, but a few times he ventured into the park. I would just like to note that my kids didn't have ID on them, but the stuffed bunny did! ;)

Awwww! This is the sweetest thing I have read all day! My DD9 used to have a lovey (she just forgot about it one day) and I feel your pain! What a great idea to do the collar, tag, backpack, etc! All ideas are wonderful and make me wish we still had our lovey!

I hope that all good hearted Disney lovers would return a child's toy if they found it in the park. I know I would! I found a silver charm bracelet with little Mickey charms all over it when we were in MK in July. It was during extra magic hours and I returned it to City Hall that night when we left. I couldn't imagine keeping something I found on the ground at Disney World, or any place else for that matter. I sure hope the owner of that bracelet found it at City Hall!
