Does anyone have past experience booking a package through Walt Disney Travel Co., Inc.?

Initially, I had a hotel reservation (Disneyland Hotel) with a AAA discount and then added the four-day Park Hoppers directly through Disney. I wanted to change my dates. So, I called Disney. However, when I called to change the dates, the CM asked me if I wanted access to MM and MTTMM. I thought they were included in my other park tickets since I purchased more than three days and was staying "on-property". So, I said "Of course. I thought they were already included with the tickets I got.". She told me "no. You don't have that." So with the CM's advice, I changed our package (:scared: more $$$$$). Did the CM give me bad advice? Did I already have MM and MTTMM access with my initial tickets/reservation? Just curious. I had a sick feeling in my stomach when I got off the phone, like I had been scammed. Somehow, I went from calling Disney directly to being transferred to WDTC when I asked to change my dates.

:worship: Please help with any answers. If I was misinformed, it should still be within a reasonable timeframe to speak with a Manager and get my money back. Otherwise, I do have a few lawyers in the family. ;)

Thank you in advance for any comments on this matter. :goodvibes

Something doesn't sound right. Multi day tickets do include 1 Magic Morning, plus when staying onsite you get it automatically. I could be wrong but I think the Towntown thing is only available on a package.

I would suggest you try pricing out your options on disneyland.com and see if it matches what the cast member quoted. They should be the same. If it's not, then definitely call back and have them break it down for you. Maybe they booked you in a higher category room than you had originally??

You need to call them back. All on site guests have MM, you don't get the TT deal but you do get MM.

I booked the DLH yesterday using the PIN code and asked about the Package Benefits like Toontown Morning Madness. She said that I did not receive those, and that I could not book a package using the PIN rates. It was one or the other.

Now, about whether you got scammed... I suppose it depends on how much those extras are worth to you.

I don't remember if you included your dates, but maybe you now qualify for the $150 gift card, which is also a benefit for some packages.

I am sure if you call back and ask them about the cost of each option, they will help you. I called 5 times before I finally booked my trip and they were very helpful each time.

MTTMM is a perk that is part of a package.

MM is obtained in one of two ways. You get one MM day with 3 or more day park tickets. Or if you're staying onsite, you get MM each day it is offered during your stay, including checkin (if you're there early enough) and checkout if either or both of those days are MM days.

Since you now have access to MTTMM, it means you were changed from a hotel only to a package deal.

HI.
MTTMM is a perk that you get when you book a package through the Walt Disney Travel Company. From what I read here and on another thread where you posted, you seemed to have booked a package.
The cast member you spoke to is wrong.

I was looking at another thread that you replied in yesterday, and now I feel silly, b/c you said yesterday you booked a package. So I guess you already knew that.

But it's not good if your price keeps going up but you don't know WHY. You need to know why your prices are going up and agree to that, definitely.

FYI, if you did have a hotel-only reservation with a Disney hotel, you would have paid a deposit in the cost of the first day.

Thank you for your responses on this matter.

:thumbsup2 I'll call them again and try to speak with a different CM to clarify exactly what I have included in my current reservation and how it differs from my previous reservation. However, the kids are like magnets. They sense when I get on the phone and are glued to me. I have tried to call back a few times. :rolleyes1 But, I was on hold way too long. So, I had to hang up. I'll try again. :upsidedow

Thank you again for your replies. :goodvibes

I was looking at another thread that you replied in yesterday,

I have also started a Pre-Trip Report and posted this question there. I feel y'all have some great DLR knowledge and knew someone would have an answer to my question.

Thank you again! :goodvibes

The Walt Disney Travel Company recently merged with Central Room Reservations/Operations, so what is happening is that if guests are booking rooms and adding tickets, they are converting these into packages, unless it's for just one night, or if there is AAA, military, AP, or senior discounts that can be applied.

The others have stated it correctly in that you get Magic Mornings if you are staying in a Disney hotel, but the Mickeys Toontown Morning Madness, preferred seating, etc., is part of the package deal, not part of the room-only reservations.

Oh that is UGLY of them. Wow.

:dance3: I have sent the kiddos upstairs and am now on hold with Disney. I am determined to get through this time.

Update:
My initial reservation had a AAA discount on the room and the 4-day Park Hopper tickets added on by themselves. So, we were only eligible for the MM. However, the CM I spoke with the other day told me we weren't eligible for MM. So, that is what started this whole "new" reservation. :headache: So, I was a little mislead by the other CM. However, I am now "over it" after speaking with the CM today. :goodvibes

With my "new" package I lost the room discount :guilty: , but gained a few "perks":
4-Day Park Hopper Souvenir Ticket (1 per person)
One Magic Morning
Mickey's Toontown Morning Madness
Downtown Disney District Fun Card (I'm not 100% sure what this is????? I need to look into it. We have a AAA card. I know we can get some dining discounts with it at DLR.)
Pin & Lanyard (1 per person) (The kids will like this. Are the lanyards like the ones you purchase at WDW?)
Disney's California Adventure Preferred Seating (We'll probably use it for Aladdin. I hear they just started back up. I really want to see this.)

Being our first DLR trip, I am now fine with the extra expense for a few perks. However, next time (I assume there will be a next time.) I will book the type of package I initially booked.

Thank you for all your input. It has helped immensely.

Just so you know, if you are staying on-site, you are eligible for all MMs that occur during your stay (as long as you have a valid ticket for the day). No need for a package for that.

The DTD fun card gives you discounts some places in DTD. You can get a free pearl at the Pearl Factory too. That's fun!!! And if you don't buy the setting (or get the $9.99 setting like we did last weekend) it's not a bad deal to get a nice sized free pearl. :)

That might be a nice keepsake for DD6. She's my girly girl. She loves jewelry. Thank you for the info! :goodvibes

:sad2: That's another thing I now know. Some other DISers told me that too. However, it was AFTER I changed my package. I guess I should have run things by y'all before I change it. :rotfl: Y'all would have saved me a few hundred dollars. If I change what I have now, I would be out $100 (cancellation penalty). The price difference was $300. So, I would still be ahead $200. But, I am tired going back and forth and will keep it "as is".

Planning this DLR trip has been a learning experience. :rolleyes1

I thought that you can change your vacation package at any time for $25 change fee. I have done that on the past with WDTC. Maybe things are different now.

I was told if I wanted to make any changes to upgrade or enhance the package there wouldn't be a fee. However, if I modified the reservation or devalued it, there would be a $25 fee. So, they did tell me that. However, it doesn't help me.

If I did anything, it would be to cancel the current reservation and restart with a AAA discounted room. They told me the discounted room when adding on tickets is NOT considered a "package". So, I would lose my deposit $$$$$ (or at least that is how it was explained to me). I swear I am not normally this dense on an issue. But, somewhere the CMs lost me with conflicting answers. :headache:

This is why I am kind of throwing my arms up in the air and saying, okay keep the extra money and I'll keep the reservation as it is. ;)

Thank you for all your help in trying to get this all straightened out! It is very appreciated. :goodvibes

Now, on to the rest of the planning. I am sure it will be easier or at least I hope. :rotfl:

Ok. What does your package include: where are you staying, etc....Just want to see if it is worth the extra $300.

That's how we ended up feeling too. Though we upgraded to APs on our package trip, and thus began many trips and staying at various hotels. :)

The lanyards will say Walt Disney Travel Company, since that's who you ended up booking with. Boring, but fun for littler kids (my 4 year old still doesn't *really* know the difference). The pin will be a pin that isn't exciting, but you can only get it by booking a package. You'll get a voucher for both, and they will have a list of pin places where you can trade your vouchers for the lanyards/pins. When we turned in our voucher, the CM gave us the option of immediately trading pins with her...I kept the one from the package for posterity's sake, but hubby traded with her.
