I have an auction up right now for a very hard to find children's costume. The high bidder is someone who just registered and is the high bidder on 3 other auctions of the same costume plus about 10 other auctions of similar merchandise (related but not costumes.) I'm really afraid that this person is just going to pay for whichever one they get for the lowest price and leave the rest of us stuck with these costumes with too little time before Halloween.

BTW, I do have in my auction terms to please e-mail me before placing a bid if you have 10 feedback or less and I do reserve the right to cancel any bid (but it seems like lately NOBODY reads the terms  ) The auction ends tonight so I need to decide quick!

HELP!

Thanks :flower:

I would cancel the bid and block them from future bids. The fact that the high bidder has 0 feedback would not be a problem by itself. But when you combine it with the fact that they've bid on the same item in 3 other auctions and failed to email you before bidding, it's enough to raise a couple of red flags. Given that you won't have ample time to relist you item before Halloween, I think that it's the right thing to do to protect yourself.

Ditto. Sounds like this person doesn't grasp the concept of "binding contract". I'd explain it nicely, but given that the costume will be un-sellable until next October, I'd look out for myself in this circumstance. If the bidder emailed back with a photograph of her triplets, I'd apologize nicely and reinstate the bid.

Thanks for the quick reply. I just cancelled their bid. The next highest bid was only $3.50 less than her bid but I'm hopeful that it will go up in the next several hours :teeth:

She would have to have quads as she has bids in on 4 of the same costumes totalling over $200.

The more I think about it the more I know I did the right thing!

Thanks again :flower:

i think you did the right thing, did the buyer ever email you about it ?
