We have been given the choice to either stay at the Contemporary in the Wing or a one bedroom villa at Old Key west. The key west is actually about half the price (someone I know has a reservation they cannot use and has offered it to us). I was looking forward to the ease of the CR with my DS 4, but then again a 1 bedroom villa would be nice since its DH, DS myself and my mother. Suggestions please!

I have never stayed at OKW. I stayed at CR once and enjoyed the dining, having multiple shops on the concourse, and use of the monorail.

I have been inside a CR room, but not stayed there...and I've stayed at a 2 BR OKW Villa. I really loved the villa better, especially since you have your mother with you. It will just provide some room to move. The Contemporary is more spacious than most standards but you're staring at 4 walls...I don't know about the 1BR...does it have 2 beds? I just wouldn't want mother sleeping on a sofabed. The transportation is fine from OKW...if it were just you, your dh and child I'd say stick with Contemporary....
Now, if you mother is the easygoing, fly off the cuff, doesn't mind sitting on the bed type of person than I'd go with the Contemporary for convenience with the monorail...
Then again if you're saving more than $100 a night or close to that then spend that extra dough on a nice (I mean really nice) gift for you mother and have her babysit while you and dh splurge at Le Cellier alone! :)

I'd go with OKW. You'll have lots more room plus a jacuzzi tub! It may not be quite as convenient, but I think the extra space will make up for it. Plus you'll have a kitchen in the villa and a washer and dryer.

We have never stayed at either resort.

Staying at a resort on the monorail is a nice feature to have with
a little one. We stayed at the Poly when our daughter was just
over a year. It was easy. However, not having a kitchen was
a bit difficult. We did rent a small refrig. that helped. Also, putting
DD down for a nap or at night was hard since we couldn't close off
any of the room.

It's a hard decision. However, if I had to do it again I would pick
the 1 bedroom at OKW. More space and kitchen.

Go with OKW. Easily.

Keep your son in the King sized bed with you and you can put him to sleep in the evening and close the door and still be up talking or watching tv or whatever.

Plus you get a full sized kitchen so you can save on meals.

I don't know about your dh, but my dh would feel kind of funny staying in the same room with my mother!!!
I say take the 1 bedroom OKW. The w/d & refrig are great! You can use Disney busses to get to MK. If you really want to be nice you can give the bedroom to your mom & child and you & dh can take the fold out sofa bed! The rooms are spacious, Olivia's is great, pool is nice, etc.

I would say the CR is my choice. You are right in the middle of everything, and no bus transportation. You can use the monorail to get to the other three connected resorts or the MK or TTC that will take you to epcot via another monorail.

We've stayed at the Contemporary garden wings and have often stayed in a one-bedroom villa at the Boardwalk, but not at Key West. We loved the convenience of the Contemporary. However, with the group you have, which includes both your husband and your mom, I would pick the one-bedroom villa at OKW hands down. Like ErinInCT, I think you'll be much more comfortable if mom and DH aren't trying to share the same sleeping space.

The buses aren't that inconvenient, nor is the drive to the parks if you have a rental car.

The space of a one-bedroom villa, including jacuzzi tub, bedroom separate from the living room, full kitchen and washer/dryer will, IMO, more than make up for the less convenient transportation. I understand the villas at OKW are considerably larger than at BWV so you're bound to be very comfortable. OKW is also very pretty and scenic and Olivia's Restaurant is delicious.
