Just reworked our reservation to change our last 3 nights to AKL (after 5 nights at POP). I am stumped with what to do about meals while we are there (at AKL). Travelling with my mom and dd8. Mom is definitely plain jane meat and potatoes sauceonthesidethankyouverymuch. dd8 likes the 4 food groups (pizza, fries, grilled cheese, mac&cheese) or any type of beef.

I think I would like Boma but not sure about mom or dd. I don't want to pay $$$ for a big buffet if they won't eat more than a few slices of beef. I looked at the online menus for Jiko and that is out. Mara looks pretty limited.

What to do for the days/nights we will be at AKL? We have some meals planned at different parks (the F! package and a TH bfast at AK). Any suggestions for when we are at/near the AKL? Advice on what is good/bad at Mara or room service?

TIA

AKL has a tour of Boma and Jiko. It was 4 p.m. when I was there and started out in Boma. A CM will talk about the various items on the buffet, and you can choose a soup to try. Then you cross over and learn more about Jiko.

DH and I have eaten at Jiko and really liked it although the desesrts we had were nothing special.

And after touring Boma, I'm going to try it next trip. It really looks good, and the soup was delicious.

I would suggest taking everyone on the tour and then see if they would like a meal there.

Would it be that easy to get a table the same day or next? If we waited until after the tour to decide? We are going 2nd week of May so not peak season but I had to make some compromises when making our other ADRs based on lack of availability...

Mara's is good, but you can't eat all your meals from there.

I get it Jiko's is out.

I'd go for Boma for the dinner buffet. The have so many options, including tons of kids items. The desserts are amazing. Personally we love Bomas and Jikos. For our upcoming trip, we will make a special night of it and have dinner at Bomas. Always an amazing meal.

Room service will be just that room service.

Good luck!
