Hi, I am new to these boards and recently engaged to my DF while on our May 08 trip in Disney! Anyways, I always wanted a Disney wedding but my father talked me out of it when we first got engaged and after a few months of discussing details and other things, I decided that it was going to be now or never and we are just going to go for it! Whoo hoo! I have my first teleconference meeting on Friday, but I don't even know where to begin? I was wondering if it was possible to have 85 guests for under 15,000? Also, what outside vendors can I use, if any?

First off,:welcome: to the Dis!! Second, when do you plan on getting married? Can't wait to hear about your plans!! :goodvibes

If you give Disney a budget they will make it happen for you and I do think it may be possible.

You can use outside videographers and photographers but ONLY if you ceremony and reception is not in a Disney park. If you are having your ceremony or reception in, say, Epcot, you must use Disney.

Welcome!!!

If you want more information on planning, just go up to the subforums and take a look at some of the girls planning journals. They are a wealth of information!!

i think your going to go over 15,000 with 85 people

i'm having 43 people and i'm estimating over $20,000 plus

to answer all of your questions go to disney.com and then to the wedding section

Aww Congrats!!! When were you there in May and when did you get engaged...I saw a couple get engaged one moring in front of the castle..I can't remember what day it was though.

I am having 33 people and I am close to $30,000.00 but its all in what you pick. I think that if you don't get crazy (like me)..lol. You may be able to do it. Disney helps out a lot.

We are planning for a September 09 wedding. I don't want a super elaborate affair, but I do want everything to be elegant, but simple at the same time. Planning is going to coincide with my last year of college, so things are going to be hectic as it is!

He actually proposed our second day of our trip in our room at the POFQ. We were supposed to go to Magic Kingdom that evening, but I was too exhausted..anyways I wanted to go swimming and he didn't and then we got into a minor argument. Then all of sudden, in the midst of it all, he changes his tune and tells me how much he loves and how he wants to spend the rest of his life with me (all very sweet words, but I thought he was trying to make me feel guilty for getting mad at him) and then he gets down on one knee and asks me to marry him. Needless to say I was absolutely floored, not to mention SHOCKED!! When I came home everyone knew we were already engaged because he asked my dad for permission before we even left and then of course my dad tells everyone he knows!! That whole trip was so special and perfect, I want to cry just thinking about it!

Great story!

We had 34 people and brought it in at $10,070 plus tax and service charge, but I think even I couldn't squeeze enough blood from a stone to do 85 guests for under $15,000 :lmao:

Of course, if your families are not local, you many not get all 85 you're inviting.... :thumbsup2

Carrie-
Can't believe you had that many people for that amount of $!!! You go girl!!

It sucks for me that May 1 is a Friday and the first day of the next tier of prices for whatever season it is, so for that reason alone, the min for my day if I wanted a Wishes wedding shoots up to $20,000!!!

So basically that is why I'm doing Escape, I'm having 18 people but am looking at about $10-12,000 hopefully (hard to say at this point as I haven't booked any meals yet!) :rotfl:

Anyway, just a pat on the back from me to you! I would never have guessed that was what you paid looking at any of your pics or video!! I was thinking more in the range of $30K at least!!!

Good job!!:woohoo:

WELCOME and CONGRATULATIONS!!

I am inviting 40, hoping for about 30-32 and we have an estimated budget as of today $20k. ($10.4k for Disney and then $9.6 for everything outside of Disney) We are hoping to get the total down but who knows!

Hope that helps!

Carrie,

I have to tell you that if I saw your wedding anywhere else, and I didn't know any better, I would swear that you spent like 40 grand on your wedding. It was right out of a magazine! :goodvibes

:goodvibes I attribute most of that to our photographers - they can make ANYTHING look like it cost $40,000! :rotfl:

I think you give them a ton of credit but I am so glad we hired them!!!! I need them to make me look B-E-A-utiful!!!!

Also, my plan is to try to beat your BEO by $10 so I might need your expertise advice...;) My DF doesn't think I can do it. So it is on, like Donkey Kong!

Oh and another thing.... I told my DF that I wanted to show him something and he seriously asked me before I showed him "Is it something Carrie & Patrick did?" Yep, I use your TR like my wedding planning guide so we talk about your wedding like we (or I) was there....:lmao:

Hi
I think if your reception ends before 2pm, the per person food and drink minimums are lower so that brings the price down. Also, having a reception at the grand floridian is an extra $25 per person on top of the minimums for other venues.

There is a LOT of great info on this board that can help save money, not to mention tips you can pick up from reading Planning Journals and Trip Reports. I think *everyone* should be able to afford a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding if they want one! :goodvibes

That's funny :rotfl: I am planning a VR and tell my DH the same thing. I am new to the DISboards and everyday he comes home expecting something from both Carrie and Lynn's TR or PJ

I use Lynn's too!!! And I am waiting for a few others to finish their TR. Specifically those who have had a ceremony in Italy...hint hint...:rotfl:

I have ripped off...er, I mean borrowed ideas from alot of the great disbrides on here.

My goal is to just spend about what we would spend if we stayed here. Our budget is at 15k for all wedding expenses so I really need to keep my BEO to the minimum. Sure we could go over that, but do I really want to be paying this off forever...kwim.
