Hi everyone...

I have never been or planned a trip to DW so I need help, please. We have promised ds for his 10 b-day we will go. Okay, we are thinking of staying offsite, but want somewhere that will have a shuttle service to the resort. Also, we want to do a park hopper option with meals. Do you think it would be cheaper to stay on site and have the park hopper option with meals or stay offsite. Any ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

TIA

I am pretty sure to do Disney dining you have to stay on property. If you are looking to go cheap (like DH and I do!) I would suggest 2 things.

1-If you aren't already a AAA member, join...they can save you money!

2-Stay on Disney property and stay at a value resort (POP, ASMu, ASMo, ASSp) get the park hopper option and MYW plus dining.

By staying on property you will get the full Disney experience!

Enjoy your trip! pixiedust:

I'm think you have to stay on-site to do meal plan. If you are dependant on the shuttles then I would definately stay on site. Off site shuttle service isn't as efficient or fast as the Disney buses and the theming at a Deisney resort is well worth it as well. :wizard:

If I were you, I'd arrive before he turns 10. If he is 10 when you arrive, you must purchase an adult ticket, pay adult prices for character meals, buffets, etc. If he is still 9 when you arrive, you can purchase a child's ticket for him and it will be good for the entire stay.

You must be staying in a Disney hotel to get the dining plan (and I don't think that includes Swan and Dolphin, not sure though).

If you purchase an Annual Pass, you would be eligible for AP rates which can save some money.

I'll second the comment about off-site shuttles. We stayed at a DTD hotel in 2002, and we'll never rely on off-site transportation again. It's particularly bad when going to the MK, because you are dropped off at the TTC and then have to board the ferry or monorail to get to the MK. With all the DTD hotel stops and then the monorail ride, it took us a good hour and a half to get there. Buses from the Disney resorts drop you off right in front of the MK--big time saver. Plus, the DTD buses ran sporadically, at best.

Thank you for the heads up on that! :thumbsup2 Looks like we will be going a couple months earlier on Spring Break instead of his b-day in June. Probably will be a lot more crowded, but we can handle it.

Also, looks like we will for sure being staying on site. I do not know why I want to stay off site and hassle fighting traffic and such to get to DW.

Thank you everyone!!!
