hi. We are planning a January 2015 trip. The last time we were at DLR was in January 2012, which was before CARSland opened. We are arriving in Anehiem morning of Jan 10th, and leaving Anehiem morning of Jan 16th.

One of the main reasons we are going is specifically to see CARSland. This is the #1 item on our list.

We see on the unofficial refurb list that Luigis is going for refurb on Jan 12th, and also that Haunted Mansion is going down to remove the overlay on Jan 12th. and since we have never been on either of these, we plan to go to the parks on Jan 10th or Jan 11th. but since its a weekend, we expect it to be busy. so we dont expect to do too much. we will be in teh parks either 2 or 3 days during the week when its slower.

while we would like to see alot from both parks, our main purpose is CARSLAND. So what would you suggest for a touring plan for CARSland for a first time visitor?

We are staying offsite.

Well, the reason Luigi's is closing is because it's so unpopular that there's hardly ever enough people riding it to fill all of the vehicles. On the other hand, since this will be it's last 2 days in operation, there will probably be a lot of traffic going there to get in one final ride. If Carsland is a priority, I'd just go there first thing on your first park day, especially if you'll have hoppers. You can always go back multiple times, the area is really small and you can see it all fairly quickly. The Luigi's queue is really amazing, better than the other 2 Carsland rides. So even if you have to wait an hour (and I can't imagine you would, but maybe), it will hold your interest.

Is the 10th one of your park days? If so, I'd head over there around 3pm - 3:30, ride Luigi's, grab something from Cozy Cones, stake out a spot for the neon lighting ceremony, then ride Mater's and have dinner at Flo's. You could do RSR single rider, or just wait until another day to get FP. If your first day is the 11th, just go get an FP at rope drop and head straight there. Even though it's an EE day, it's still the weekend before a holiday weekend and it won't be so horrible at that point.

Go to DCA on a non EMH day. Go to DL on the EMH day as well
The DCA park should open at 8am on a weekend. Be at the entrance 15-30 minutes before the park opens.
Head immediately to Toy Story Mania, unless you have interest in experiencing RSR twice. If you want to do RSR twice then get a FP for RSR first, then head to Toy Story Mania
After TSM do Screamin, Fun Wheel, Goofy Sky School, Symphony Swings, and Mermaid. It should be close to 10am by now.
Get a FP for WOC, ride Grizzly, then Soarin. Then get a FP for RSR (either your first or second)
If you got the RSR FP in the morning it should be about time to use it.
After lunch do the Hollywood Land attractions.
Then before dinner do the Cars Land stuff
After dinner head to Bugs Land

Some Tips:
Expect longer lines for Luigi since it may not be coming back. The locals will want one last ride.
Check out White Water Snacks in the Grand California Hotel for lunch.
Cozy Cone is a good place to take a break and get snacks.
If you watch World of Color, get to the viewing holding area 15-30 minutes before the time posted on the WOC FP ticket.

..... stake out a spot for the neon lighting ceremony......

is the neon lighting ceremony like a show? is there better places to stand, especially if your short like me ?

As the sun is setting (dusk) all the neon lighting in Carsland cycles on.
Not a program show. Just something to watch.

Close to dusk, we grab a snack and get a table/chairs outside at Flo's along the street near the corner.

Pay attention to the area around you. The attraction, storefront and street lights all begin to come on.

It only takes a minute or so and it's done.
