Next year my mom wants for her family to take a trip to WDW for her birthday. Obviously, I am a veteran of the whole WDW but my sisters' and their families have never been. I'm trying to do as much to help them investigate and plan as I can. I know that they would really like to stay onsite but I think it is going to be cost prohibative for one of them. I thought I would put together a couple options of off-site (condos - in particular) that would be good choices for them to consider. I really think that they would need full kitchen so as to save on food costs. 9I should mention that this will probably be the week after Thanksgiving.)

What are some of your favorite sites to use in finding and/or comparing costs of resorts? What are the best sites to use for places like Bonnet Creek, Windsor Hills, etc.? Are there any others that I should strongly consider?

(I am also considering renting/transferring points into my DVC but I want to consider all options!)

Thanks!

Thanks!

Condos/town homes are excellent options and you will find tons on www.vrbo.com and www.homeaway.com. If there is more than one family though, they might want to consider splitting the cost of a full size home. We always travel with extended family and rent a 5-6 bedroom home. We make sure that there is a master bedroom and private bath for each adult couple and regular beds, not pull out sofas in the middle of living space, for all the kids. We have rented this home for the last 4 years and are planning on going back again next year. It cost just over $1000 including all taxes, fees, pool and spa heat with our return guest discount. We split the cost 3 ways and it costs $335 per adult couple.

This home is a little further out in Davenport, but we like this area so we keep returning. Your family could probably find something closer that is comparable in Indian Creek, Emerald Island, Sunset Lakes... for a little more money a night.

We stayed in a 5 bedroom/3 bath pool home at Indian Creek last summer and it was amazing! It was only $625/week and it says it is that price except for Christmas and New Years. Indian Creek is probably 6 miles from WDW property in the Formosa Gardens area. This particular house has 2 masters then three other bedrooms. It is all one level and even had a game room.

We went through villa direct on the advice of some friends, and so far have been very happy with their customer support and friendliness. We go next week so I can tell you the actual conditoin of the property. We picked a resort that had a pool, game room, etc for all the kids we have.
With many people, more space usually makes a happier vacation - just a thought. :))
