Ok so I'm trying to book my trip to Universal real soon because I want to go ahead and get my tickets while the special is running... but I'm having a REAL hard time finding a nice "cheap" place to stay... I have gone all over these boards and it's hard to really read what people have to say about offsite rooms because you don't know where these hotels are located, meaning if they are closer to Universal or WDW... so I have found 5 in my price range... I would love if everyone would help me pick one or even subtract one... Just so you know. I'm driving myself and my dates are June 4th (a monday) to June 8th (friday). It's just myself and my DH.

Here are the things I would like in a room but I know it's asking a lot. * = a must

1. Laundry Services* :laundy:
2. Under $70 a night.* :teacher:
3. Does NOT have to have a pool. :snooty:
4. DH is a Diabetic so I need a frig but I'm going ot bring an ice chest just incase. :thumbsup2
5. CLOSER To Universal the better!! I am driving and I may use the free shuttle but I'm not sure yet. I dont like the idea of trying to catch a bus and waiting to be let off. I like knowning I can leave and go whenever I want... but to say the 10 dollars a day I might use the shuttle.* :confused3
6. CLEAN I know it's asking a lot, but I can't sleep if I know there is dirt under the dresser... I understand that it won't be prefect that's why i can bring my own clorox wipes! * :scared1:
7. A cheap but nice place to eat close by would be nice. popcorn::
8. Arcade for the DH. :rolleyes1
9. Free Wireless Internet :woohoo:
10. Movie's in the rooms. :happytv:

Ok so now that you read all that... I have narrowed it down to these five... please help!

1. Best Western Plaza Inter. Orlando $49.00

2. Best Western Universal Inter. $60.00

3. ESA Orlando - Universal Studios $60.00

4. Rodeway Inn International $62.00

5. Hawthorne Suites UO $64.00

If this Hawnthorne Suites on Canada Avenue. Yes I have stay there last summer. It was clean and have a excellent free breakfast. The breakfast contain fruit, toast, sausage or bacon, grits, oatmeal and juice and cereal. The pool was clean. They had a little store in the hotel but it was expensive and did not sell coke. Okay that fact it did not sell coke was bad point for me. I am true southern at heart. You either have sweet tea or coke there is no in between.:lmao: :lmao:

It has plenty of resturants in walking distance. Perkins, MC Donald's, Burger King, Church's or Poyoyaes.

You can get the hotel off Sand lake Road or International Drive where there is plenty of resturants to choose from to. Check out Tony Romo's they have excellent food. Ci Ci Pizza International Drive.

US is so close hat it's scary. I want say it's on International Drive and basically drive down the street to get there. That's where my memory fails me at. US is close to Hawnthore Suites and really not that far.

I happen love to the hotel and have plenty choices to eat.

If have any more questions let know.

Comfort Inn has bad ratings on tripadvisor. So do your homework before you make the reservation.

Dont laugh but the motel 6 on american drive is very nice and they used to have a bus to and from park usually very cheap. If not less than a mile to park.

so wouldn't laugh! a bed is just a bed... but still...

thanks so much everyone for the responses (ugh, i hear thunder, looks like the rain is about to hit)...

I have been spending the last four days of my life.. i get off work, go walking for thirty minutes and on the computer the rest reading reviews after reviews, looking at pictures and what not... I'm looking for a CHEAP trip and I was thinking of the Best Western Plaza Inter. But call me crazy i can't make up my mind! I'm about to just click and go!

I was just going to do one of the packages from US websites.. instead of buying everything separate... wise choice?

I am trying to get the hotel + tickets under 500 with taxes... I figure I'll just bring some cleaning supplies and some buggy spray just incase.. :thumbsup2

oh and about the coke thing... if my DH read that they didn't have coke he would had totally said "HE!! NO!" he can't go without his diet coke... he thinks pepsi is poison... so I totally understand.

Thanks again everyone!

The Motel 6 is somewhat new so no need for bug spray unless your a person who ikes to kill all the stuff people leave on the beds.

when you say new, you mean new new? like in the past couple of months or years?

and im sorry but if i hear a bug while i sleeping, i wake my dh tell him to take care of it and i dont sleep the rest of the night.. what if a bug went in my nose or in my ear canal?? i dont do bugs... no bugs. :scared1: but i was really just being sarcastic about the spray and cleaning supplies :lmao:

I done some research myself..... I found good revues for Best Western Movieland on I Drive. Also the Floridian Hotel (Microtel Inn). Both are less than $60 per night and gets good reviews on tripadvisor. We have 3 nights reserved for Comfort Inn Lake Buena Vista right now ourselves ar $49 per night but that deals gone now.

You should try posting your question on the Universal Boards also. I've only stayed onsite there and I know that it is out of your budget but I'm sure there are plenty of folks over there with info. for you.

I used Priceline for my son and won the 3* Embassy Suites on International Dr for $52. He says thats the only place he ever wants to stay in Orlando now. Check the prices at www.biddingfortravel.com and give it a try. Read the FAQ to learn about free rebids.

What about the Holiday Inn Universal? Sometimes they take the entertainment card for half off. Not stayed there, but heard positive reviews.

herc.

If that's Microtel Inn that is calling Floridian Hotel on Canada Avenue please do not stay there. That where my reversatn suppose had been before I went to Hawnthorne Suites next door. All have say that hotel was not clean and was not friendly at all. Arrive at the hotel and it had no AC in the hotel at all. The hotel had a strange smell and the heat was make it worse that it cause a asthma attack and keep in mind I work outside in the summer ad heat does not bother me at all. The hotel sold my room too that book. Then try say they is giving me a suite for a up grade. That would have been fine if the hotel was clean had AC and they would not sold my room.

I had not hard person to please. All I want was some where place sleep and shower for to be clean and everything in working order.

i just booked on Hotwire and got the Sheraton Studio City for $62/night (includes the taxes). It's listed as a 3*.
