We were planning on staying at POP again in October, but MIL is thinking she would like to stay at a moderate or deluxe for a change. We can't afford to do that so she said she'd pay the difference for us. I'm the Disney nut in the family so I do all the info gathering and booking. It is my job to find a resort that will suit our needs. FIL has had knee surgeries and has to walk with a cane frequently so we need to stay someplave where it isn't a long walk to the foodcourt and buses. We have stayed at CBR and found that the walk would be too much for him. I have also heard that CS is out of the question because it's so spread out. MIL was thinking about AKL, but she wasn't thrilled about the African cuisine.

I guess I'll just list our needs and maybe someone can suggest a resort that would meet them.

Rooms have to be close to foodcourt and buses
Would like to have an inexpensive foodcourt with "American" food
Don't want to pay extra for a preferred building
Would have to be eligible for a FL res. rate, if one becomes available

POFQ might be a good option for you. It is smaller than the other moderates, has a food court with regular food, & looks very nice. You can request a building near the bus stop for medical reasons. Also ask for 1st floor since there are no elevators.

This site has all the info on POFQ.

I agree with mommykds, we stayed at POFQ last spring and we were really close to the food court (not a preferred building). It's a really nice quiet, pretty resort and the bus to DTD is great also.

POFQ does have elevators, I know cause we just came from there this past April. Ground floor is a good idea. Ask for bldg 4 or even bldg 5. It's the closest to the food court and the bus stop. And if you want to go to DD, you can take the boat there. I think your ILs will enjoy the boat ride, it's very relaxing.

If I am not mistaken, there is no preferred bldgs here due to the smallnest of the resort. We stayed in bldg 3, 3rd floor and it's still pretty close to the pool, the food court, and not too far from the bus stop. So I think bldg 4 or 5 is a good location.

Another vote for POFQ. I would suggest bldg 4. It is close to the food court (main bldg) and close to the bus stop. My father has a similar problem. We make sure that it is noted on our resv and that we fax the front desk a few days before we arrive. Then when we check in I nicely ask for the bldg I would prefer and explain why. POFQ seems to ignore my faxes but they are great when I c/i.

As for deluxe I would suggest WL or CR.

Thanks for the suggestions. I was leaning towards POFQ, until I looked at the room photos. I didn't like the style. Some of the statues around the resort kind of creeped me out too. LOL

I'm not really a wilderness type person, but I REALLY liked the looks of WL. Can you get a FL rate at WL (when there are FL rates available)? Are all the guest rooms in one building?

The newly renovated rooms at CR are gorgeous! What would be the chance that we'd get one of the new rooms though? I'm a confused about CR's layout. Are there three seperate buildings? Do you have to go outside to get to the big main building and is it a long walk?

Here's the map of the Contemporary. As you can see, the Garden Wings can be spread out--I don't know if you have to go outside or if the walkways from the Wings to the Tower are covered.

WL's rooms are in one building, so it might be your best bet, and the food is definitely American there. Also, the deluxes do have fast food/quick service restaurants that are cheaper. I don't know how they compare to food courts at the values and moderates. Resort menus with prices are here: http://allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm#res. The WL's counter service place is called Roaring Forks.

I think POFQ would meet your needs nicely. The grounds are beautiful and it's a very compact resort so walking is fairly minimal. I can't say enough great things about this resort! :flower:

There are elevators in POFQ. My son and I would race down the stairs while my daughters and Daddy took the elevator down. We always beat them - lol!POR also has them.

CBR does not have elevators.

If someone is willing to pay the difference for a deluxe, and there are special concerns as far as walking great distances, I agree that CR Tower or WL are your best bet. POFQ as I understand is quite spacious, and I believe would involve a lot of walking to food court/restaurants. And speaking of which the choices of those are quite limited at POFQ. More choices at CR and WL. And now that I re-read your requirements, WL sounds like your best choice. Definitely American food, can stay in the same building, and if you want something a little different, jump on the boat over to CR, and even more choices in dining are available to you. Good luck!!!
