My mom and I are thinking of going back the week after Labor day for a quick trip (4 nights). We always stay around the MK because we typically have kids with us. Since this will be a no kids trip, I would like to stay near Epcot. We want a deluxe resort walking distance from Epcot and the boardwalk area. It is likely that we will not be hanging out much at the pool - so I do not think that having access to SAB is a priority for us. Which hotel would you recommend? If possible, it would be nice to have a view of illuminations. I am considering the Swan, YC and BC. I have both an annual pass (waiting to see what, if any september discounts come out) and an entertainment book (for Swan discounts). I am hopeful that we can get a nice room with a decent view for about $200 a night. What do you think?

Thanks for your help.

I personally love the YC. I'm not a big pool fan either so that's not the attraction to it for me. I just really like the theming. Some people say it's stuffy ... but I don't think so.

Another thing I like about YC is there are some really nice standard views. In 2001 we got the YC Labor Day week for 169 + tax a night.

I've stayed at the YC, BC, and BWI. I would select either the YC or the BWI for an adults trip. I don't swim while at WDW either, so the pool isn't a big deal to me. The YC and BWI are both super nice resorts, and I loved my stay at both resorts. I think choosing between them basically comes down to which theming/decor you prefer. The YC is very regal looking with hardwood floors in the lobby and a nautical theme. The BWI's theme is upscale, yet a bit more relaxed. Obviously, it's theme is a boardwalk (I think around the turn of the century). I would check out the photos on www.wdwig.com to see which decor/theming I prefer. The rooms at the YC have been redone recently, so be sure that the pictures you see are of the redone rooms.

We love staying in the Epcot resorts area & would enjoy any of the resorts because of the great location. Those we have stayed at I would rate in this order: BWV, YC, Swan, Dolphin, BC. The villas are nice in that you have a small refrigerator & microwave in the Studio room, which might be available for those dates at the price you list. Your only problem would be it contains a queen bed & sofa bed, not two doubles. Anyway, it is a great area to stay in--hope you have a great trip!

Thanks for your comments, wdwobsessed. You mentioned nice standard views at the Yacht Club. Can you be more specific? We're staying there next month w/ standard view, and I'd like to know what is available. Thanks.

thanks for all of your responses. One other question - my mom has a disability and will likely be in a wheel chair for the trip -- as far as location goes, which is closer to epcot, the Swan/Dolphin or the YC/BC or BW? I would like to push the shortest distance possible?

Thanks.

BC is the closest but BWI isn't much further. Others have posted that SAB attracts familes to BC/YC so BWI has tends to have fewer families.

The link below is for a map of WDW.
When you enlarge the map you will be able to see ALL of the world and its resorts. You can see the layout of the Epcot resorts and how close or far they are from the gate.

PS. If staying at the Y&BC, how can you not use the pool.
We may have set a record for the longest time spent lounging in a pool one hot July day... or maybe not.

Have fun. (I know, rather redundant)

That map helps so much! I assume that you can walk all the way around the lake that the epcot resorts are on (eg from the bc past the yc, past the swan, to the boardwalk), right? I haven't stayed in this area since 1993 (pre bc, bwi, yc) so I am really excited to stay there. I hope some great annual pass rates come out for either September or early December.

Thanks again for your help.

joshua4,
As the crow flies, BC Villas is the closest to Epcot. Technically, you have to go back though the lobby to get to the park, but there is a shortcut that seems to be in operation sometimes. It has very few rooms with an Epcot view however, so odds are you will not be able to see Illuminations from your room. You can get an OK view from the bridge between BC and ESPN cafe. Another advantage of BCV is that the self parking is really close to some of the rooms, which someone in a wheelchair would probably appreciate. BW villas also has an OK view of the fireworks from some of the higher Boardwalk view rooms.
Hope this helps!
Mike
