I've got a little bit of time here, but I'm trying to figure out where to eat so I can figure out if I want to do the DDP. :goodvibes

So far I'm pretty sure we want to do:

AK- Yak & Yeti (oop, I will have gc's for this from Mypoints)
SSR- Turf Club
GF- Narcoossee's (thus the oop on Y&Y since this is 2 credits)
Epcot- Le Cellier & Tutto Italia

I need at least 2 more TS meals. Nothing seems to be jumping out at me at MK or DHS. Well a few might, but I've found that I'm only looking at dinner and if they meal is under $20, then it's probably not going to be worth getting DDP, right? As it is, I'm already potentially eating steak at 3 places ( Narcoosee's, Le Cellier & Turf Club) b/c it's one of the more $$ meals (I like steak, but don't think I can do a 4th :goodvibes). I do not do seafood/fish, although DH loves it. Would you use a TS credit for a breakfast buffet? The kids will be staying at home, just DH and I. I'm not generally a big breakfast eater, but if I could get a late enough reservation I'd be ok with that. Or are the buffets a waste of a TS?

Which resorts are on the monorail system? I'm guessing if I could find a dinner reservation at one of the monorail resorts, it wouldn't take too long to leave the park and head to dinner, correct? I'm used to DLR (AP holder there) where everything is MUCH closer than WDW. We haven't been to WDW since the late 80's, so I'm clueless on distances.

TIA for your advice. :)

Using the resort monorail at MK is a good idea. You can go to the Contemporary, Poly, or Grand Floridian. You could also take a boat from MK to Wilderness Lodge or the Fort Wilderness Campground. It doesn't take too long to get to any one of these resorts.

Of all those, the 1 TS dinners I would suggest are Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL and O'Hana at the Poly. Another popular one though would be 1900 Park Fare at at GF.

DHS is tough for us. Sci fi, we think the atmosphere is great, but the food is bad. Prime time Cafe is pretty good food, if we eat a TS at DHS, it is there.

For Mk, i would say CP for a buffet. Its fun and the food is good.
For DHS we do 50's Prime Time.
If you do a monorail i would say try Ohanas, Kona Kafe or GFC

For MK: My family enjoys Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. It's an all-you-care-to-eat type dinner, so the food it plentiful. Pork loin, turkey, and carved beef. Bread dressing, mac & cheese, boatloads of gravy, and seasonal vegetables. (Green beans almondine last time we were there in xmas 08/new years 09)

Another good option is Tony's Town Square. Standard italian fare, pretty much. But after 3 steak nights, a simple pasta dish, or chicken parm, might be up your alley. I really enjoyed the Seafood Diavoli, but that's not your cup of tea.

With MK usnig the resort monorail does offer you several good options, if you don't want to eat in the park. Ohana looks to be very good, although I have not yet done this one myself. (It's on our todo list for this August.) 1900 PF, and Chef Mickey's are both good buffets. CM's character are the standard lot, while 1900 is Cinderalla and her family, including the Lady Tremaine, and the Ugly Stepsisters. Could be fun for you both?

We're doing both 1900 and CM this year.

For DHS:

Our family really enjoy's 50's Prime Time Cafe. The kitschy art deco, and old time stuff is really fun to look at. Plus the staff are a part of an 'act', which can be fun to get involved with. The food is 'classic comfort' foods: Pot Roast, Meatloaf, Fried Chicken, Tuna Casserole, etc. My wife swears by the Pot Roat, and I have enjoyed both the meatloaf, and fried chicken. While I did not enjoy the collard greens, I ended up eating them anyway. Don't ask about dessert! :)

We have enjoyed the Hollywood & Vine Buffet, and Mama Melrose's but we always go to 50's Prime Time. Sci-Fi drive in, has been hit and miss with us. If we feel like doing it, we do lunch there, and usually some kind of burger or sandwhich. Something hard to screw up. Dinners were lacking.

So if I had to pick one for each:

MK: Liberty Tree Tavern
Resort option: 1900 Park Faire
DHS: 50's Prime Time Cafe.

At MK I love Crystal Palace and The Plaza is also good too. They're totally different as CP has a large buffet with a big selection and The Plaza is more limited but they both have great food and excellent desserts.

Another vote for 50's Prime Time Cafe'. The food is great with large portion sizes and the atmosphere can't be beat.

Thanks so much for the suggestions on places to eat and info on the monorail resorts. I'm leaning towards not eating at MK at all and doing either Ohana's or Whispering Canyon. I think you all have talked me into 50's Prime Time Cafe. It might be a nice change to have some comfort food. :goodvibes

One last question.. does the monorail connect all 4 parks and the few resorts? I'm wondering if it would be possible to leave from AK to have dinner at Whispering Canyon or Ohana, or if that would be way too big of a hassle?

I'm a little late here, but I'll add suggestions anyway:

MK - we love Liberty Tree Tavern for all the reasons previous poster mentioned.

DHS - we love Brown Derby. I know it's 2 credits on the dining plan, so I understand why some wouldn't want to spend 2 credits on it. We use TIW, so we're less limited in our choices. It's my favorite TS restaurant.

When we're looking for a second dinner near MK, we (like previous posters) take the monorail to the Poly or CR. We've been to Chef Mickey's and Ohana several times, and plan to try Kona next.

The monorail only connects the Poly, CR, Grand Floridian, Transportation Ticket Center, MK and EPCOT. But you could take a bus from AK directly to the resort where you plan to eat dinner.
