Need Help-photo Project

Hi everyone
I need a little help. I am taking a black and white photo class and we are going to have to do a project. Any ideas on what the subject could be? I can't get to Disney to finish the project but really need some help picked a topic.
Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Try dropping into a bookstore, thumbing through some of the B&W photobooks and finding a subject that interests you .. something that you can do in your location. Then go out and shoot some photos on that subject. Just remember, it should be something that interests you. You'll get excited about it and want to do it.

I don't shoot black and white, so don't put too much stock into what I say. My advice is to look for subjects that have good tonal range (difference between bright and dark areas). I think that good lighting is even more important with B&W than it is with color.

I always like people in B&W. Try some very directional light on people. A good idea is to have them side-lit by a window. Try shooting them from different angles (with you closer or farther from the window).

Also, when you convert to black and white (assuming that you are shooting in color and converting), try adjusting the colors before you convert. You can do cool things like darken the blues in a picture to make clouds stand out against a darker sky.

There is always the standard "Old people and children" routine. They always make interesting shots. I prefer nature photography myself, as well as sunrises and sunsets. Beaches are also good I think.

thanks for all the ideas...I'm going to attempt extreme close ups of musical instruments...
