I need your help/advice/oppinions. We are going to be making our P.S' in about two weeks and we just added hopper passes so it changed our itenerary around and I want to get the best bang for our buck at restaraunts using our MYW plus dining package. Here is what I've come up with, please give me oppinions on the restaraunts we will be using our dinner vouchers on and any suggestions for better ones. This is for a trip with my husband and our two children (ages 20 months and 4 years) Thanks!

First sit down voucher will be used at Mama Melrose on our MGM day (is this kid friendly??? if not I'm thinking Prime Time Cafe)

Second sit down voucher will be used at Donald's Breakfastasaurus on our AK morning. (Kid's have to see Mickey and we'll do Chef Mickey's at the end of our trip)

Third sit down voucher (this is the one I am questioning, never been there before or heard much about it) is our Epcot day and there just weren't too many option so I choose : Rose and Crown Pub and Diner (opinions??)

Fourth sit down is at M.K. for Cinderella's Royal Table for dinner (can't wait)

Fifth sit down I was thinking of trying was going to Whispering Canyon at WL for dinner and then taking the boat back to MK for the night.

Final sit down voucher is for Concourse Steakhouse on our Magic Kingdom night, figured we could ride the monorail to and from (is this easy to do, we'll be staying at POP - any advice on timing from POP to this resort and then to MK would be VERY helpful)

THANKS SO MUCH!!!
Lesley

I have experience with only a few restaurants you mentioned but perhaps you'd want to consider paying out of pocket for the character breakfast at the AK and use the sit down voucher for a more expensive dinner option - like eating at Boma's or elsewhere. Perhaps a Chef Mickey's dinner? You mention doing that at the end of your trip but I didn't see it in the list - are you saving a voucher for it? I think you get more "bang for your buck" by using them for dinner cause dinner is more $$$. We have more PS' for sit downs than the MYW package allows and we plan to use those vouchers for the most expensive meals and pay for the other ones out of pocket (and use the counter service vouchers for breakfast).

I have never dined at R&C but we go to Biergarten every trip and last time we were there my kids were ages 20 months and 5 yrs old and both LOVED it! At dinner (not sure about lunch) they have a live band and the kids can get up and dance in front of the stage. They were very entertained and there was plenty there they liked to eat.

Another option - especially if you have girls I guess (!) is to dine at Akershus which is going to serve all 3 meals a day as "Princess" meals. Akershus is also one of our favorite restaurants. Even though I have 2 boys I still have a PS there for our upcoming trip cause we love the food and atmosphere so much - having some lovely Princesses around can't hurt I guess :earboy2:

From the CR the monorail goes around the loop so it takes a little while (30 mins? maybe less?) to get from the CR to the MK via monorail. It is probably quicker to walk but your kids would probably enjoy the monorail ride so that is worth it.

Have fun!

Thanks,

I'll have to check into Biergarten to see if they take the vouchers, I think that may have been on the list. Yes, my sons favorite is the monorail so that won't be a problem riding that for long periods of time to get from one place to another (we spent a lot of time there last year)
I'm using a voucher for AK for breakfast because my husband doesn't like the buffet dinners, he prefers to order off of a menu, and he said buffet breakfasts are fine. We planned on AK with voucher and then the last day Chef Mickey's if we want and if money is available for breakfast the last day and we'd pay ourselves. We have one night "off" that we planned on going to Downtown Disney and eating at Planet Hollywood for dinner, so I have that voucher to use for a breakfast and figured AK would do just fine we wanted to try a new character experience and Mickey is a MUST. Thanks so much for your advice.

Don't forget on your Epcot day you could walk out the International Gateway and go to any of the Epcot resort's restaurants which is what we did (we wanted to try Cape May Cafe at the BC since we were scheduled to eat there last year but never made it due to Hurricane Frances). It's a short and pleasant walk over.

This week's All Ears newsletter had a good review of 50's PTC.

WCC or Ohana are fun places with little children. Ohana's has the added bonus of castle and Wishes views if you time it right, plus lots of fun for the kids.

Have fun deciding. Remember whatever you don't do this trip you can look forward to on your next trip! :wizard:

ETA: thought maybe you'd find my MYW dining review helpful.

Thanks so much. I think we may try OHana's. How do I get there? We will be staying at POP. Can I take the bus to Epcot and then hop the monorail to the Polynesian. How much time should I allow?

Thanks,
Lesley

We also stayed at Pop (loved it). I'm not an expert on bus transportation since we used it for the first time this past month (usually get a car). You could take a bus to MK and hop on the monorail to the Poly. I think an hour leeway would be enough, if you get there early you could enjoy a stroll around the resort which is beautiful. Save a little time regardless to go check out the beach either before or after you eat. If you go at night and time it right you can watch the Electric Water Pageant from the beach, too (it used to be at 9pm, I believe).

What is the electric water pageant and where is it? Can you go to the beach at Poly if you eat and don't stay there?

Lesley

Yes, anyone can enjoy the beach. The EWP is an electric "parade" that comes by in the water on small linked barges. It lasts 10 minutes or so and is very cute to watch. It goes by all the MK resorts nightly at different times.

To clarify: if you are at Epcot I don't know that O'Hana would be the best choice that night - I'd either stick with an WS or Epcot resort restaurant then and save O'Hana for a night you'll be in the MK area.

Biergarten and Akershus are both on the sit down list last I checked. Another place to try (never been) could be the restaurant in Mexico. I've heard mixed reviews on the food (same for R&C) but some folks report their kids really liked the atmosphere watching the boat ride and the volcano (or whatever it is in there - I can't remember!).

I have PS's for R&C too for dinner so I'm not bashing it. There isn't much choice at EPCOT and I don't mind trying it. I'm also trying CRT for dinner! Never been there either.

I understand about the breakfast thing. Most folks have good reasons for stuff - LOL!

I just wanted to clarify that the MYW dining plan does not use vouchers. It is all on your room key. Just thought I'd mention it since you kept saying "voucher". Hope you have a wonderful trip and let us know how it went. I'm also using the plan. Have a great time. :flower:

Another option that no one has mentioned for the Epcot area is Spoodles, which is an easy walk or boat ride from the Epcot International Gateway. Spoodles is an excellent restaurant, and is, in fact, one of the most expensive options included in the MYW dining plan.
