We've got a trip to DL booked for August 21 - 30. It's just over a month away and I'm starting to get a bit nervous about crowds while we're there. I know that passholder blackouts are lifted on the 18th I think so I'm a bit worried about what this will do to the crowds while we're there. We will have 5 day park hoppers and can't go on Thursday the 21st or Saturday the 30th as these are our travel days. Any wisdom that anyone could offer on what might be the best 5 days to go to the park would be greatly appreciated. We are staying offsite but within walking distance (2 adults and 2 boys, 15 and 10). This will likely be our last trip to DL with the kids so I would really love to make it special (we are not exactly early morning people but I realize we'll have to do a couple of early mornings I'm sure). We're better equipped to stay later in the evening but I'm not sure if it will be too crowded then.

Thanks!!

First, don't be nervous. You have five days. You will have a great time and get everything done.

If you need 5 consecutive days, I would choose Mon-Fri. Avoid the Sunday if at all possible. If you want to break things up then maybe Fri-Sat, then Tue-Thurs.

I agree that with that many days, you'll be able to get a lot done with or without block out dates.

The only advice I would really have is that if Haunted Mansion is something you like to ride, you need to go before Monday, 8/25. That is when it'll go down to have the NBC overlay installed.

The Matterhorn might also close for a refurb starting on the 8/25, but that one is a little less certain.

Excellent point!
