Need help modifying my Dollar reserv.

I reserved a fullsize car on Dollar a few weeks ago for $247 the week of Easter. I went to modify it b/c now instead of picking the car up at 4 pm, we have a later flight and won't be able to get it until 10 pm. When I tried to switch the time ( not the dates) it modified it to be over $500!I'm kinda afraid to call Dollar for fear someone will make a mistake and cancel my reservation. What should I do?

if you cannot rebook it @ comparable rate; i'd call Dollar (after printing out the original ressie confirmation)

we've had this done with Alamo & National with success; just get the name of reservationist & then immediately check your ressie...good luck!

The later time could mean a higher rate. Car rentals are based on actual 24 hour time periods form pick-up to drop-off and not dates. If you have a weekly rate and modify by a few hours later pick up or earlier drop-off you can get bumped up to a daliy rate which can be higher.
Also, you may have recieved a promotional rate that is no longer loaded in the system.
Best be tis to call them, explain, and let thme work it out with you.

You can contact Dollar customer service either by email or telephone. I've used both many times to make changes when the online system hasn't been as cooperative as I've thought it should be. The service representatives have been very helpful using either method. I'd suggest that you be very clear with the CSR that you contact that you're trying to modify your existing reservation without affecting your current rate - if your pick-up time is later than originally booked and your not changing your drop-off time they should be able to accomodate that change without any problem.
