My DD(12) has had what appears to be a rash since early this summer (May?) She went for a well-visit and tetanus shot in June and the doctor said it would go away.
At the time the blister-like rash was on the inside of her elbow and nowhere else. Tonight she showed me that it was now on the side of her abdomen, the same side as the arm that has the problem.
I've tried webmd, but can only conclude that it is warts. It does not itch or burn. I don't hinkg it's an allergic reaction, since nothing seems to have triggered it, nor made it worse. It's just weird and I wondered if anyone can give me a clue what it might be before I call the doctor tomorrow.

It's not pretty, but here's a pic

I would call pcp and ask for a referral to a dermatologist just to be on the safe side. My DD has exzema and gets it in some pretty weird spots- no rhyme or reason, but has meds to clear it right up. Good luck.

DD has Keratosis Pilaris. http://www.keratosispilaris.org/

Our Pediatrician diagnosed it. It is inherited from DH and there is not really a treatment for it. I would get her checked out by a Dermatologist. :)

When she was about 5 or 6 she was tested for neurofibromatosis. At the time she only met 2 of the 3 criteria so they never treated her, nor was there much to do about it. This year she's developed the "rash" and possibly problems with needing eyeglasses (25/25 & 25/20 is that better or worse than perfect?)- both of which could be due to the Nf.
Unfortunately the pediatrian who first sent her for the follow-up at Children's Hospital of Phila. is no longer her PCP. The new Ped. was going to check with the old office to see if anything further needed to be examined, but I didn't hear back, so I suspect she learned nothing new from them. I'll be calling the new Dr. tomorrow. I will either get a referral to a dermatologist or find out if we need to go back to ChoP for further testing.

Does she have any other signs of Neurofibromatosis (NF)? Does she have any cafe au lait spots (brown) anywhere? Also, another diagnosis for NF is a slit lamp test. This has to be done by an opthamologist. They look for lisch nodules in the eyes. There are two types of NF. NF1 and NF2. NF1 is when it manifests itself on the outside of the body and NF2 generally manifests itself internally. Below is a link from the NF website that lists clinics in the Pennsylvania area. If you have any questions, feel free to pm.

She has the cafe au lait spots, the primary reason the pediatrician suspected Nf. I believe the criteria failed to have been met was the nodules on the optic nerves. She had an MRI then, but I wonder if she shouldn't have a new series done. I've searched the web a few times, but never find info in layman's terms, or info the adds to what I already know about Nf. It's all so vague to me.
