Need help making T-shirts

So I thought it would be nice to make some shirts for the three of us to wear at the parks, I have looked into getting them done and it is just soooo expensive! I am sure I can do it myself with some direction. It is my understanding that if I print an image out using iron-on type paper I can then just transfer the image on the shirt. My question to all of you is, where do I find the imagines? I have not made very much progress in searching myself. Thank you so much!
