Need help making a pillowcase dress!

Can someone give me the basics? I bought some cute halloween fabric today along with some ribbon so I would like to try this for DD. I don't have a sewing machine, so will sew it by hand (if that's even possible!!). Thanks!!

Here's a link to instructions but it involves using a sewing machine. I'm not sure how you would do it all by hand. Your handsewing skills would have to be extremely good to make the casing for the elastic or drawstring.

ETA: I'm going to move this to the Creative Community. Those gals over there can make a silk purse from a sow's ear! If anyone can help you, they will!
