I will be having my lawyer from Tennessee and chip and dales agent verifying if you work for Disney.

Here the question I know for non tipped positions cm aren't allowed to except any money. But know I hear from a cm on the boards who works for the wilderness lodge. Saying non tipped cm even though they can't except cash but can except gifts valued up to 75.

I don't think that right I don't see the difference excepting a gift that value up to 75 or giving the cm 5 bill.

I thought you had to say no three times and if they keep offering except then give to your manager.

So is this a new policy or has this policy always been in place but no one talked about it.

And please only cms or Jack burgin respond thanks ahead of time.

I would call 407-506-2428 if it bothers you that much.

The person on the phone is a CM - you won't find many CMs on the podcast board, which I think is supposed to be for podcasts only. Maybe move your thread to a different sub board?

Thanks just trying to prove a cm who shouldn't be working for Disney for possible making lies not going to call to do that but thanks for the suggestion their was former cms on the podcast that could answered to.

I just don't see why Disney has a policy that no tipped cms can't accept cash but can accept a gift valued up to 75 so I can't give the bus driver a five dollar cash tip he/she can be fired or written up. But I could under what that cm says a chip and dale figure from Jim shore as long as it no more then 75 dollars. Sorry to me I think that wrong and makes no sense.

And exc chefs or chefs are not tipped positions I don't know why it bothered me enough to ask I been trying to stay off this forum and just stick to the disabilities forum.

Thanks again for the suggestion I just going to give up it not worth it I don't need the stress just remember to be nice the bus drivers they work hard and chip and dale are a List.

OK, I just looked up your past posts and now I know what you are talking about. You wanted to thank a chef for accommodating a food allergy request.

I work at a hospital and we are not allowed to accept gifts or tips of any kind. We also don't want tips or gifts most of the time.

I have worked in guest services before, and I have a suggestion that may help you out.

Cast Members are rewarded in different ways - one of those ways is their annual review by their supervisors. One of the BEST ways to thank a Cast Member is to simply write a letter of thanks to them and give it to their supervisor.

I recently had a wonderful experience on the phone with a reservation problem that was very frustrating and annoying. The Cast Member did an EXCELLENT JOB at helping me and explaining why what I was trying to do would not work. She was so nice!!! After the phone call, I immediately wrote Disney an email through their website and told them what an excellent job she did and that they were lucky to have her as a Cast Member.

I am sure two things happened -

1. Her supervisor put the compliment in her file and when the annual review comes around, they will note the good review and raise her score - possibly leading to a raise.

2. I just made her day! She probably deals with a bunch of jerks all day long, and to be complimented and praised for a job well done made her appreciate her job a bit more.

So my suggestion is to write a compliment letter to the restaurant - the chef would LOVE THAT!!!

Your so right I work in a conference center We also get other non conference guest but the way we and the chefs and everyone from the gm like is to read great review on trip advisor. The chefs when they get to talk to the guest it makes their day more a thank you or we enjoyed the food then a gift. And at Disney writing Disney to let them know the chefs name will help them out more then the gift because they move chefs and if they have a chef that has many good comments they be moved up first. Their a chef a Disney that most likely more famous then the restaurant people go to where he is just because of him his name is chef tj. He handles special request great he was at 1900 park care and everyone would go their and ask if it still their but now hey moved him to train end so now all his fans are following him. Not sure if Disney knows how big he is and doing that to increase the numbers or if it just a better option for him.

It a great suggestion

I don't know for sure, but my guess would be there is a tax issue involved in CMs in non-tipped positions accepting cash in appreciation of a job well done. The employee has reporting requirements to the employer, the employer has requirements - you can imagine the consternation it would cause if Disney had to be concerned with tips received from non-tipped positions.

An item can be looked at as a gift, thus cleaning up that messy tax business. Many companies, particularly companies the of the size of Disney, have policies that either prohibit outright or set a dollar value limit for the accepting of gifts from customers, vendors or other business partners. If the cm you spoke to is telling the truth, it would appear Disney's limit is $75. This policy would apply to all Disney employees whether they work at Wilderness Lodge or in the accounting department.

I don't get why people want to tip someone who can't take a tip. If someone refuse atip the first time go to guest services and tell them what the CM in question did.

The only tipped positions at WDW are the waitstaff, bell services and the DME drivers but you really only need to tip them if they actually handle your luggage by putting it on the bus.

I worked for the mouse from 2008-2011, mostly in resorts. I was in a non-tipped role, but was offered tips semi-regularly. Don't tip us, please. It puts us in an uncomfortable position and we never saw that $$ after giving it to our managers. We often were offered tips in exchange for some sort of benefit, including upgraded rooms or faster service. I was even offered cash for ..late night company.. a few times by convention guests :faint:

It wasn't uncommon for repeat guests (I worked at a DVC resort) to bring gifts for some of the CMs who had been there long-term, and also the club concierge staff. They could accept those gifts and were very appreciative. Food can be an awkward gift, especially if it's homemade, but anything that represents your hometown/state is pretty cool!

They really appreciate the thought behind it, but a nice letter is most appreciated as it helps their careers! :thumbsup2

Okay so they can accept gifts up to 75 I would never give a home made gift if it involved food that to weird.

Thanks for clearing it up I guess the cms at the board walk inn cl level that knows the names of the guest and know from previous trips are the ones giving the gifts. I guess my gift of not reporting some cms to their manager for making mistakes is not good enough I should report them. I would just not think of tipping in gifts or money a non tipped position at Disney I not looking for special treatment just to be treated like Disney trained them to. Well if it get them to listen to my room request then maybe but I shouldn't have to give something to get a cm to give Disney service. I write letters like you said for the cms that go over and beyond I let managers know when the cms doing good and bad.

Thank you for taking your time out to let us know you can if you want but letters are the best.
