Need help!!! How is America West?

Has anyone taken America West before? I have never flew with this airline and would like to know about its quality and safety records. I need to make a decision asap. Thanks for your great help!!!

My boyfriend is on an America West flight as I type this. He took the first flight from Hartford to Phoenix last week. I asked him how the flight was since he travels all the time and takes all airlines. He said that it was great, he had no problem except for a screaming child behind him He is now on his way back and had a layover in Columbus and will be in Hartford shortly. From what he told me it seems that it is a fine airline. Hope this helps a little!

It's been years since I've last flown them, but I rate them along with the major airlines.

I guess I must have been really unlucky with America West in that my experiences differ.

I lived in Phoenix for 9 years. Most of the time, I flew Southwest but occasionally I had to take an America West flight because of schedule or destination. I would say that in the 9 years I lived there, I was on America West about 8 times. Every time I flew them they were anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours late. I can't tell you all the reasons for the delays but I do know that only a few were in any way weather related. I tried to avoid America West whenever I could.

With my luck, if people had known I was going to be on the plane, they probably would have avoided that flight too!

I flew AW last NOV. from Columbus to Orlando and had no problems what so ever. Even got upgraded to first class on way down. We actually arrived early to ORlando

I've flown America West before and had family & friends who flew them into Columbus. We've never had any problems with them and no delays were due to anything but weather for all of us. I will be flying them to Chicago in a few weeks as well

I flew America West from Phoenix to LA and back. I got there and back alive both times. And they didn't lose my luggage. Can't do much better than that!

When I used to fly.....I took an America West flight from Los Angeles to Las Vegas & it was uneventful (this is good.). But my fave flights were on Southwest Airlines.
