I am taking my soon to be fiance and her 6 yr old daughter to WDW in December. I havent been there since I was 10 (20 yrs ago) so I need some help

I wanted to go in October but she is running into problmes with Nursing Boards so I have it narrowed down to December. So my questions:

1. Which is the best week to go Dec 4th - 10th or Dec 11th- 17th? (crowd levels, lines weather) :smickey: :smickey:
2. Which hotel on site would you recommend? I am narrowing it to Wilderness, Beach Club, Poly or POFQ?
3. Is the food plan worth it?
4.Which is the best character meal? Preferably breakfast
5 and WHERE CAN I FIND the GREEN ARMY MEN?

Any help ya'll can give me I would appreciate

1. Dec 11th to Dec 17th
2. Check out renting points fom a DVC member at VWL. You could get the dining plan this way wiyhout buying tickets.
3. Yes
4. To each there own. I like Cape May.
5. MGM

You'll surely get a million different opinions!

Here are mine:
Generally speaking, the earlier you can go in December, the better conditions you will find. I'd pick the week of the 4th. We were there 12/3-12/6 this year and had no problems.

Chef Mickey's is our favorite breakfast: great characters and plentiful, American breakfast fare. We also love the Crystal Palace for lunch; we think it's the best buffet on property.

For Christmas time, you can't beat the Wilderness Lodge, but if you think you'll be at Epcot and MGM a lot, then Beach Club has a better location.

The army men are in the MGM afternoon parade and might be available for meet and greets there, as well.

Have fun planning!

thing I hear is that the pop warner football thing is around this time and makes the parks crowded. Is this true?

We were there during Pop Warner. It did not seem to affect crowd levels....just the quality of the people there !! Nasty mouths and attitudes. But this was more noticeable at the value resorts and POR. I would not stay at ANY values or Port Orleans. You should be fine. The weather was chillier than we thought but was beautiful anyway. Crowds in the parks were low - but I have never been there in December before. Be sure to check out MVMCP !!

We're planning on staying at POFQ (not Riverside) from 11/26 - 12/9.
Do you think we'll have a problem at the French Quarter, too?
Thanks for your input!

1. Either will be good. Definitely do MVMCP Tuesday nights are good.
2. You have picked very different resorts. Is money a factor? If not I would stay Poly otherwise WL. Your fiancee's daughter will love being able to see Cindy's castle from Poly plus taking the monorail to Epcot and MK.
3. If you plan on at least 1 sitdown meal a day it is. It is a lot of food.
4. Chef Mickey's and 1900 Park Fair at Grand Floridian (Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger, plus Mary Poppins in the lobby). It has a good variety of food.
5. MGM behind muppets 3-D is where we usually find them with all the other Toy Story characters.

Check out allearsnet.com for wonderful info including pics of resorts.

We have done December, earlier the better. We have stayed at both Wilderness Lodge and Poly, and both are great, Poly alittle better because of monorail access but WL is our favorite for price.

We never do dining plans. We eat where and when we want, since disney meals are huge, we usually share one meal and have room for snacks. We save alot of money this way and I personally don't think the dining plan is a money saver. We also get groceries from Goodings, for impromptu picnics and get our beverages there for pool drinking.

Breakfasts, first best with characters is Chef Mickeys, great food, all the characters, loud and noisy with everyone particapating, fab place. Other favorite of out is Trails End Buffet at Fort Wilderness, cheaper than all the others, no characters, but a nice boat ride in the am for some fantastic grub.

Just my views on what we like and do. Anyway or either way, go and enjoy, its magical!

With a 6 year old girl, you have to do a princess character meal. Cindy's at MK is my favorite. She will LOVE it! :thumbsup2

Completely agree. :thumbsup2 I've been there at all times of December and I think the earlier, the less crowded=the better.
