Help! I was given the job of coming up with an original idea and decorating my Brownie troops annual christmas wreath. Usually this is no problem I have done it for the past 2 years, but, now the heat is on! The completed wreaths will than go on display and be judged, and this year the girls want their wreath to at least be in 3rd place since it never was in the past. I have wracked my brain but I have come up with nothing. I have taken a picture of each of the girls, hoping to incorporate their pictures. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. :sunny:

maybe play off traditional "Girl Scout" songs?

Using Silver and Gold and circles/rings (wreath) from "Make New Friends?"
Make new friends, but keep the old. One is silver and the other gold. A circle's round, it has no end. That's how long I want to be your friend ...

Something with the Brownie Smile Song? or my favorite take-off
I've got something in my pocket that I found behind a log. My leader said to put it back, but I want to keep this frog. It's cool and green and slimey and it wriggles in my hand. I also have a wooley-worm and a pocket full of sand!

A wreath of swaps? A sample of all the different types of swaps the girls like to make?

Incorporating swaps into the wreath is a great idea!

Are you starting with a wreath of some sort? Or does your design have to become the wreat too? (Geez I hope I make sense.) My DD loves to work with the lacing lanyards. Maybe something lacing-like could be added to make ribbons and bows.

Thanks for your help. We are given a standard fake green wreath, and have to come up with the theme for the wreath. Thank you both so much for your info. :goodvibes

When my kids were in scouts we made angels out of white dollies with gold wings and we put their faces on them with gold stars for Halos and attached to the christmas tree with a clothes pin glues to the back of the angel. Maybe make a weath with them all as angels. I think I got the idea from family fun you might be able to find in on their web page. Good luck

How about using daisy's in the wreath? Didn't the founder of girl scouts...wasn't her name Daisy...? Also you could research Savannah, Georgia and incorporate something from there...where the found is from...if I remember right...she also did wrought iron work....boy...it has been a LONG time!

Can you take a cartoony picture of a Brownie (elf) and photoshop the girls' face pictures onto the face of the Brownie? Then print them out and Modpodge them to something stiff to make ornaments.

Is the story of the Brownies still in the Brownie handbook? Is there a picture of the elf-Brownies in there?

Edit: Just found this:

You could make paper dolls out of your girls' pics and dress them in these vintage Girl Scout uniforms. This is just one sample:

Some ideas for you:

* candy wreath or use candy and GS items
* GS themed decorations like trefoils intertwined with green and white ribbon
* GS figures dressed as angels or just make angels using green and white materials
* yes, use SWAPS that are easily identifiable and and maybe make them humorous or use a theme in general (camp, international friendship, etc.)
* incorporate gingerbread men/women made of salt dough (or whatever) with "vests" and Christmas hats (made of red felt trimmed with white felt)

GL! :wizard:

Why not copy the try-its your troop has earned, with a scanner, laminate them and turn them into ornaments you can tie to the wreath with ribbon?
