Don't get me wrong, I love WDW, but I wouldn't say DL is a "glorified six flags" by any means.
Hee, hee, I knew that would raise flags.
Yes, I have never been there myself. I have family that has and I've done enough virtual research to figure if it was worth it to me to make a trip. I discovered pretty much all the DL rides are in WDW. DL is stuck in the most crowded city in America (my family loathed that) and is just stuck in the midst of it all. So not impressive. It's also on the other side of the country and a long, expensive flight away. When I arrive, I'm confronted with a paired down version of my beloved WDW. It's not even offering me anything unique (like there are similar rides in Busch Gardens and/or SeaWorld but with a different take). An extra ride minute here or there does not make up for the sheer variety of things you can get at WDW, certainly not in a WDW-lite. Not for me, at least.
It has one thing going for it. DL is the park Walt designed and used. BUT WDW is the one he died dreaming about.
Consider me a purist. I have been to Universal Studios once and dissed it for not being Disney enough. If SeaWorld and Busch Gardens didn't offer me half priced tickets, I wouldn't bother making those destinations either. Everytime I'm there I feel like I'm just going to a pretty amusement park ala Six Flags.
