We will be making our first trip to SOG next year. We are hoping they don't postpone the opening again. We asked these questions of the reservation person and she did not know the answers. So I'm throwing them out to you SOG experts. Does SOG provide luggage transfer from SOG to the Swan/Dolphin? The second question involves group check in. Our group would be about a dozen people coming from three different places. I understand that the sponsor has to be present at check in. My question is: If half the group checked in with the sponsor at say 6:00 PM can the other half of the group arrive later in the evening say 8:00 PM and still be able to enter the SOG property and check in with the sponsor already checked in and waiting for them? Thanks in advance for the help.

The sponsor has to be the one the check in for all of the rooms. However I think the sponsor could go ahead and check in for all rooms even if the occupants have not arrived.

I don't believe SoG offers luggage transfer, but I don't know for certain.

We have a similar situation this fall for CR but I asked the SOG reservations department when I made my reservation earlier - here's the jist of what they saud.

We have 2 rooms booked - one on a Wed - Tues the other on a Thurs - Tues. The military member (DH in this case) MUST be there when the other room checks in, since he's the eligible member (military ID is asked for at check in - even at CR, I noticed this when we went last year). The other people can pay for their room, but sponsor must be there. I would imagine that the other people can enter SOG grounds (at the Hale Koa, anyone can come in and park).

Since you have a couple hour difference, I can't see why you couldn't check into the rooms for everyone (it's all one reservation anyway).

I don't think SOG offers luggage since they aren't a Disney resort...

I don't believe SoG offers luggage transfer, however if may be a new feature once they re-open. Best bet is to contact the other hotel you are staying at and see if they will come pick up your luggage for you.

Here are what the rules were when I was there. Please keep in mind the rules may have changed. Best bet is to call reservations and ask to speak w/Lynn, the resv manager to be certain.
- As an example: If sponsor is arriving at 6pm and room 2 is arriving at 10am the same day, sponsor CAN make arrangements for his/her guests to check in w/out him/her.
1. Sponsor must fax a copy of his/her military/DoD ID card (front and back). Must provide pertinent info (date of arrival/departure, name of all guests in party, etc).
2. Sponsor must also write a little ditty; some thing to the effect of: I, MSgt Smith, due hearby assume full responsibilty for whatever charges or damages my guests may incur. Pretty much you're just stating that it will be all your fault if your guests go nuts.

I don't see why they would change they would eliminate this policy. A good deal of our sponsors would have their guests arriving before them. As for having your guests arriving a day or two after you, the sponsor, I *think* the policy was you were able to check them in when you checked in; meaning you did not have to come back from the parks and wait around for them. This was more of a front desk feature so I'm not as familiar with it. The policy *may* have been that the morning your guests were due to arrive was when you could check them in. That way, you could take care of it before going to the parks. Either way, I know for certain they did not, at the time I was there, force the sponsor to come back from the parks to check in their guests. :)
