The wife and I are expecting our first child a little later this year. Since we won't want to bring our baby to be there until he or she is almost a year old we are making a trip in May.

This is a dumb question, but can previous mom or dad to be who has spent some time at Disney give us some hints on things we can do that won't totally drain my DW?

We are DVC members so we will be "home" during the trip, but our normal "Park Attacks" will need to be extremely cut back.

Any tips, hints, or whatever will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Btw, here is the story on our kiddo to be if interested.

Congratulations!

The last time I went to WDW, I was almost 7 months pregnant.

Lots of rest stops, lots of water and don't stress. If you don't do or see it this time, you will next time or the next. Just go at a pace that is good for mommy to be. Don't fuss over her too much unless she wants you to. ;)

Are you flying? If so, get up and walk the aisle every so often.

I had a great time. And don't forget to take a picture of your wife in front of the castle with a tiny mickey ears hat on her stomach. :teeth: We did that and we knew she was a girl, so we had the pink ears. The picture is titled: Baby's first trip to Disney! :rotfl:

Please make sure to keep an eye on her feet for swelling! I went when I was 7 months along and my feet started to swell a little bit, this was Easter weekend in APril of '95. Well, that was okay but within one month I was flat on my back on bed rest because of pre-eclampsia (toxemia). After we returned home from WDW we had what was supposed to be a 1 week trip to Birmingham AL for a confnce DH had to go to. I was out every morning shopping for baby stuff and each evening I noticed my feet were a little more swollen. Well, by about the third day of this DH noticed (he's a doctor), he cancelled ther est of his course and we went home. WHen I ewent for my next checkup the following week my BP was in the 200's over 100's and everyone went bananas. Baby was taken 6 weeks early and had to be on Oxygen for a week. Really scary. Moral of this ramble, watch her feet for swelling and if they get puffy get her BP checked at first aid there!

I was at WDW in May of '99 and my 1st was born in early October. I had a wonderful time and so will your DW. Remember there are a lot of things that are sit down, relaxing things, that I recommend taking advantage of in the afternoon. It will be warm, so do your standing in line stuff early. Then, in the afternoon, take advantage of Mickey's Philharmagic, Hall of Presidents, a nice sit down lunch, the saloon show, etc - and that is just in MK! Drink lots of water and know where the bathrooms are! You will be fine!

Congradulations!

Remember that when you're pregnant you get sunburn easier. I got a pretty bad sunburn there when I was 15 wks. preg. with dd8, and I was using plenty of sunscreen. I think I just didn't reapply often enough. And mommy to be, (I read your guestbook) don't wish for the baby to come to early. I'm a neonatal nurse, and sometimes we have kids born 6 weeks early that do great, other times 2 weeks early and end up needing oxygen. Just take good care of yourself!

My saving grace at the parks while pregnant was the free ice water, ask anywhere that has cups and they will give you a cup of ice, water too, but I preferred the bottle water. Didn't have to worry about keeping the water cold. :) I was about 16 weeks when I went, obviously there are rides that you can't do, so you won't have the huge waits for the big thrill rides. Most important, rest when you want to or need to, sit down with a Mickey Bar, take in a show, head back to your resort for a nap. Most of all enjoy yourselves! :)
