Long story made short. Bought DD iPod last November for Christmas. iPod died. Thank god I bought the protection plan! Sent it in and received a new one this past weekend. Sent in a box with nothing but the iPod and headset.

My question is how do we register this iPod on our laptop??? Do I need to delete the software on my laptop and reinstall it with the CD I got from the first iPod?? Plus, I only see a model number on the back of it and when we tried to install it and plugged in that number it didn't take. :confused3

I'm so confused. Any help would be appreciated!

I would try uninstalling iTunes, iTunes Helper, and iPod Service before you do anything else. Once they've been completely uninstalled from your computer, put in the CD you got with the first iPod and start the installation process from scratch. (There's a new version of iTunes available, but you can install that later from Apple's website.) After you get through the installation process, plug in the new iPod and the program should start prompting you to enter the new serial #, etc. Once you've gotten it registered, go to apple.com/itunes and you can click the link to download iTunes 7.

Good luck!

OK OK ;) Thanks for the help!

My ipod died and I bought a new one. I updated itunes to the latest version and made sure it was set to synch to the ipod and copy files to teh ipod, not the other way around.

Then I just plugged the new ipod in and it took me to the registration page.
