Need help from expierenced members

I own direct points at Riviera. Got BLT points transfered.
I have a 3 night studio booked at BLT (april 30-may 3 2023) with transfered points at 11 month.

Originally we would stay at Riviera for 2 nights after that but we are going with kids so we would like to stay longer near MK. I would like to add 2 nights at the end of the trip with my Riviera points at 7 month.

Am I able to modify that reservation on september 30 (7 months out of check in date) to add the last days even though it was originally booked inside the home resort priority window? Or do I have to book those 2 nights (may 3-5) separately on sept 3?

I think the first option is better since I got already those 3 nights locked but not sure if it is possible to do so

Yes, you can modify any reservation at 7 months to a non-home or home resort. Have a nice stay...

You can do either, but realize that the studio at BLT may not be available for those extra two days when you get to the 7 month window, so you may want to have a backup plan in place. You could book those two nights separately now at Riviera, then change them BLT at the 7 month window. Although you would have two separate reservations, MS can merge them into one reservation afterwards. The studios you book need to be the same class of room to merge them (SV, LV, TPV). FYI - There are more LV rooms than any other class at BLT, so they are the last to get booked up.

You do not mention which view studio you have at BLT, If standard view, you should assume your chances of adding nights for a standard view studio in April or May at 7 months out are very low. If early May time, theme park view will also be low and lake view probably less than 50%.

If you want to increase your chances of getting two more nights to the same room at BLT with the Riviera points, then (a) make sure your BLT reservation is for lake view; and (b) consider reversing your current reservations to Riviera for April 30 and May 1, and BLT for May 2 through 4. Reason: last week of April is one of the lowest DVC demand times of the year and at least April 30 in BLT lake view will likely be open at 7 months out. However early May is fairly high demand time (and likely to become a much higher demand time as a result of DVC's lowering points needed for first half of May), but still a better chance for April 30 and May 1 in a BLT lake view studio at 7 months out from April 30 rather than getting May 3 and 4.

I don't think you can add 2 nights at BLT with RIV points on Sept 30, for May 3 and 4th you will be more than 7 months out. You should have to wait until Oct 3 to book May 3 and 4th.

You can modify a trip in the first night if the reservation and add nights with non home resort points as long as you are not going more than 7 days out.

I will book riviera just in case I cannot modify to BLT. If I can't modify and need to add extra nights, would I be able to merge the reservation? Knowing that first nights are with transfered points?

If you end up with all nights at BLt no matter which points, they will be able to put into one reservation.

Can you modify a reservation within 7 months by swapping out points entirely? Say I make it with one of my memberships (RIV but not at RIV) and then swap to a different membership #?

It’s a weird question but I want to make a reservation within 7 months now but will have more points after closing on some resale contracts that have points I need to use before they expire.

Reservations made on one membership can not be moved to a different membership.

But, you can make a reservation on your membership with say RIV points within 7 months somewhere else and then if you get more points into that membership from another resort, yes, you can use those to free up the RIV points since the trip was booked 7 months or less

Once I had those points I was able to swap it around because they were all in my Dec UY.

All contracts have their own number but that is different than membership.

If all the contracts go into one membership..same UY and titled same way.. then yes, you can swap points.

If you have more than one membership..different UY or owners.. then you can’t unless you transfer the points between the two.

I've tried this more than once and wasn't able to modify. I had to book the other night with the SSR points. Maybe the modification is only for direct buyers?

You can make a note and they won't make you move. It costs them money to clean, so it works in your favor.

Or maybe this is one of those fun "glitches"?
