Need help! Friend trying to hijack our vacation.

I am happy that it worked out for you. We had a similar situation where someone that we know (and care about) tried to get herself attached to our family trip. I gave a firm 'NO" as the response. Even if we had wanted to, we truly couldn't accommodate her wishes. WE had every sleeping space in our DVC room filled and we had everything booked for almost a year with no ability to add her. Imagine our shock when we arrived at MCO to find her sitting there waiting for us! She wanted us to add her to our DVC reservation and bring her into WDW right then and there!

Sometimes people do very surprising things!

Holy crow what did you guys do? How did THIS turn out?? Did she actually book a flight or did she live down there and was just waiting for you?

That would be a hard pass from me. "Thanks for the offer, but we have our plans pretty set already. I hope you guys have a great time. Maybe we could meet up to watch the fireworks one night and share stories."

Going at the same time is one thing. But inviting herself to stay in your room is a bridge WAY too far.

Glad it worked out, but for her to even suggest it, was ridiculous! Of course I also found it strange that an earlier post mentioned that she is uncomfortable staying in a hotel room with her DH and DD

OK, LOL! Here's how it ends......

She is also from Canada and booked her own flights elsewhere in Canada for some days previous to our departure date, and then flights down from there to Orlando to meet us. I had no idea that she had this planned. I was happy thinking that she had apparently found somewhere else to go.

It sounds funny now, but wasn't so much at the time. We had Tony Hinds booked to bring us to BLT with a 10 passenger van and there were 10 of us, so simply no room available for her. She wanted me to add her to our reservation, but every bed was spoken for in our rented DVC accommodations. Even if I had wanted to, I couldn't accommodate her.

I offered to try to find a room for her at the All Stars, but she didn't want that. I had small children, my family and Tony waiting, so I found a flight going back home in three hours and booked (and paid) it for her. I set her up with airline staff to see that she was given assistance getting to the gate, gave her a few hundred for incidentals on her way home and left with my family. It delayed us for a couple of hours and then we were on our way again.

I have since learned that she didn't use the ticket I purchased for her. She went on to visit relatives in western Canada. But I felt better than just leaving her with nothing at the airport. She had a means to get home at least. For my own peace of mind I had to try and help somehow.

It was a big surprise, though, seeing her there and an unsettling way to start our vacation. I won't easily give out my travel plans to anyone again in the future.

FYI, the extra adult fee for deluxe resorts is $35 per night.

still friends on my end - not sure about how she feels. She wasn’t impressed with me leaving her at the airport. I am hoping that she is having a nice time out west. No talk of money on either end. If she offers, I’ll accept. If not, it was a small price to pay for my peace of mind.
