Hello to all!!!

If you don't mind...Could anyone suggest a value resort for my mom and dad?

Here is the breakdown.
My family of 6 is staying at FW for the first 2 weeks of October. My mom and dad who are coming for the first week would prefer not to camp. They enjoy the resorts but enjoy the parks more! So they do not mind staying at a value resort just to sleep. I told my mom that a discount code should come out for the value season. Hopefully! :wizard: They would still be in the value season since they are arriving on Oct 1. I would like her to book somewhere, though, just to be on the safe side and we will add the discount when it comes out.

Since they are 2 adults with no kids attached now, which value resort would you recommend and which "area". I can't think of the word... I would not want them to have to walk a mile to the busses and food court. Is there anything else you would suggest?

TIA for :listen: Everyone of these boards have helped me so much plan!

I'm moving this over to the resorts board there are lots of people over there who can help you with this question! :earsboy:

Prevailing wisdom on these Boards seems to be that Pop Century is a little more upscale and nice among the Values. As your parents are not staying with children, the fun of the AllStars would likely be wasted on them. Pop is quite new and built around a lake.

I don't know which section it is, but for about $10 extra you an book a "preferred location" room close to the food court and bus stops. This might be perfect for your family. A friend of mine is staying at Pop next week (and meeting us! We leave Thursday!) and she payed extra for one of these convenient rooms. Have fun!

We've stayed adults only twice at POP and wouldn't hesitate again. We've been in 50's sec, building 3, lake view - could almost think you're at a moderate with the view :) Short walk to bus and food court - maybe 4 min stroll.

I think 50's is esp nice for adults because of theme - juke box, Lady and the Tramp.

I would be sure to request a lake view (or pool if they don't mind the noise)in 50's or 70's as there are some far off parking lot views that would lose some of the magic (as least it would for me). 60's is preferred for $10 more but truly not necessary - most of 50's or 70's is no more of a walk and the rooms are identical.

On our first stay at POP we ran into a senior couple who were very disappointed with their room - first floor, close to food court, but facing a large bush. It was the parking lot side of 50's bldg 1. Flet so bad for them - they were going to eb there 10 days! They were on the way to check in to ask about a room change. They were dear, not complaining, just disappointed.

Hope they have a great time!

I just have to interject... I think it's only wasted on people who don't let the kid in them out. :)

But I'd agree POP probably would be the first choice out of all the values.

We've stayed at All Star Music (Jazz) twice and Pop Century (80's) twice, and had a blast at both. We stayed at ASMu last Memorial Day weekend, which four us was a four-night stay with only one park visit. We spent some of our time at the pool (not crowded at all!), and the rest of the time wandering around visiting other resorts and Downtown Disney.

We stayed at Pop Century for three nights (including their opening night) in December 2003, and for six nights in December, 2004. In 2003, in was too cold to enjoy the pool, but in 2004 we spent quite a bit of time just relaxing in the sun at the pool.

We like the food court at Pop Century a little better than the one at All Star Music, but other than that, we really like both, and will stay there again!

If your parents will have a car, Holiday Inn Family Suites is pretty much as close to the parks as Pop Century -- same general area. My parents stayed at HIFS and really enjoyed it. They had a small suite with separate king bedroom, small wetbar area with fridge and microwave, living room area and, in what would normally be the kid's room, a large screen TV with two recliners.

There's a free hot breakfast every morning.

It wasn't too expensive (I think they offer senior discounts). My parents really enjoyed it.

You might also consider getting your parents a cabin at Fort Wilderness. Then they'd be pretty close to you. The cabins are nice with full kitchen, dining area, living area, bath and bedroom. There are sometimes good discounts on the cabins depending on the time of year.
