My friend is thinking about taking her 2 boys for their first trip to Disney and is wondering whether they'll really like the experience, being that the boys are 7 and 10 and typical "Boys". I tried to assure her that they most definitely will and gave her all of the reasons why, but I thought by having more of you chime in and let her know that's not just my opinion, it might make her feel better. Let's let her know what the true Disney Experience is for a 7 and 10 yr old boy. Thanks!!!!

I first went when I was about 5 and have been going back ever since! 7 and 10 are excellent ages to go to WDW. Old enough not to have to worry about mid afternoon temper tantrums, most likely tall enough to do every ride. I'm racking my brain trying to think of reasons not to take boys that age. My kid brother and I are 3 years apart as well and we always had a ball.

Of course they will love WDW and have a great time! It kinda depds on the boys though whether they will take to MK, or maybe prefer DHS because of RnR & ToT. If they are thrill-seekers, they might find MK a little tame (though Space and BTMRR are still safe bets)! The waterparks might be fun for them too. The great thing about Disney is that there is something for everyone!

I have 5 Boys! I have taken them at all different ages. They are typical boys, boys. They love it! This year they will be 15, 14, 12, 7 (turns 8 while there) and 5.
Boys love Disney, the enjoy the rides, the sites, even the characters. I have great photo's of the boys and characters.
Disney has rides for all ages, some bigger rides for the kids that are tall enough and give the thrill, and rides for the little kids that the big kids can ride too, we rode so many rides as a family, it is so much fun.

Trust me...tell her to go!

I have 2 boys 3 years apart and they absolutely loved WDW at that age. The wanted to stay longer and return as soon as we left.

They are now 17 and 14 and they don't love WDW as much. They are now more into thrill rides. If she is going to go, she should go soon.

A child's impression of the parks will be formed by their parent's engagement in the experience more than anything else. She should plan ahead and identify specific things that will be of most interest to them. Do not make them do a bunch of stuff that will not interest them (absolutely limit the shopping to a bare minimum). If they discover something they really like, let them do it multiple times. Rides like Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror are great attractions that the family can laugh and scream on together (no need for single riders with a group of 3)

If she went as a child, she should share with them a couple of her favorite memories while at the park. If they can understand how important those memories are to her, they will be more likely to want to have their own.

Make sure she visits Magic Kingdom at night and stays until well after the fireworks and last parade. There is nothing more special than feeling like you have the park to yourself once most of the crowd leaves. Her boys should be old enough to stay up and experience that, especially if they take a mid-day break.

This is a good age to take the boys, before they get much older. I took my boys when the older 2 were 11 and 9. Unfortunately, my parents took my oldest to a Six Flags a few weeks earlier on a camping trip. All I heard all week at Disney was how exciting the rides were at Six Flags, in comparison:/ He loved the coasters, so Disney was a bit tame for him; but on a positive note, he loved eating at all the restaurants on the dining plan.
