My family and I are planning on going down to Orlando for a family reunion. We would like to stay in a home with a pool (a decent size pool) with at least 3 bedrooms. We would not need more than 4 bedrooms. We would really like to be in an nice resort/gated community with a playground for the kids. We will have family coming in for just the weekend, so we need somewhere that they could rent for just a few nights. We also would like to know if any of the resorts would allow us to rent the a community room for a get-together. It is overwhelming how many choices are out there. I would welcome any input. Being right near Disney is not important to us. We would just like a nice resort and very nice bedding and furnishings in the home. Thanks for any help!

Hello Here are some sites you can look at
www.indiancreekflorida.com
www.windsorhillsrents.com
www.onlinefloridavillas.com
If you find a neighborhood you really like and you let us know I am sure one of us would have a link to the neighborhoods site.
Indian Creek is not gated,
Windsor Hills is gated and very new!
Other nice neighborhoods are
Windsor Palms, Emerald Island (Deb will have the link for thier neighborhood)
Oak Island Cove, Sunset Lakes, Rolling Hills.
If we can help in any way let us know!:goodvibes

Ok, I've looked at the websites and have decided that Windsor Hills would be a lovely place for our reunion. I have submitted an inquiry and received plenty of responses. We really would like a 4 bedroom with a pool and hot tub. We would also really like it to not allow pets or smoking due to allergies. Is that possible? I have only received one response for a 4 bedroom and it is from Peter and Angela Jennings. Their website is windsorhillsonline dot com. Has anyone ever used them? They are available for our dates (June 1-8), but I am a little nervous since we have never rented before. Any feedback would be helpful. If anyone personally knows of a 4 bedroom in Windsor Hills, I would appreciate the info. Thanks for your help!

Carrie -
There are not very many 4 bedroom homes in Windsor Hills, that's why you probably haven't gotten many responses (there aren't very many 2 bedrooms either). The VAST majority of VRBO homes don't allow pets or smoking, so you should be fine there, just ask the owners you're working with about their home in particular! I know a ton of homeowners in Windsor Hills, but none who own 4 bedrooms, sorry! (Although I do know a brand new homeowner who's 4 bedroom is in the final phases of being built, but it won't be done until July sometime!)

Windsor Hills gets great reviews here on the DIS and other boards, it's all brand new, and a very high end, nice resort, so it's hard to go wrong! The homes do vary slightly in terms of furniture, bedding, decorating, electronics, amenities (and as a result....price), so just be sure you take a good long look at the particular home you plan to rent, and you're happy with the pictures, their website, the owners, etc. I don't know this owner personally, but it's a big resort, 1000 homes total, so lots of people there we still haven't met! But, that being said, most people who have been to the resort give it nothing but great reviews! The homes are all gorgeous, like I said, it's very hard to go wrong, and you can't beat the value for the money!

If you need any other help, suggestions, etc, please feel free to PM me, we own some homes in Windsor Hills ourselves and are happy to help you if we can!

My DW and I rented a townhome 2 years in a row as guests ourselves, and absolutely LOVED the place and the resort, so much so that we decided to buy a place there for ourselves last summer!

Cheers!

Thanks for letting me know.

Terra Verde might be an idea. This is a paragraph from one of the homes I looked at for our vacation.

Terra Verde is a prestigious new resort in the heart of Florida. It is a magnificently landscaped , master planned gated community which serves as an excellent base for all the fun Orlando has to offer. Terra Verde is a 'private island' distanced from the bustle of area theme parks, yet only fifteen minutes drive to the gates of Disney. Club and concierge facilities will be extended to you as a guest at Mimosa. Facilities include; Tikki Bar, a half basket ball court, outdoor heated pool, volleyball court, children's playground, stocked fishing lake, cyber cafe, spa treatment centre, fitness room and large meeting room, available for private parties.

There are different size homes and this is a fairly new sub division. It's over in the Poincianna area.
Windsor Hills is also a good choice, we've stayed there twice.

I would not restrict yourself to 4 bedrooms. I have found that prices for larger homes can be less than for smaller ones. Pricing depends heavily on other factors in addition than number of bedrooms. These factors include location of neighborhood (newness, proximity to WDW, amenities), location of home within neighborhood (view, privacy), quality of furnishings, extras like games rooms, wi fi, etc., and whether the owner badly needs the booking or can squeeze it in between two other bookings.

The 6 bed home we are renting next week in WH 6 gave us a better price than most smaller homes, even better than some 3 bed townhome owners were charging!

you might get a larger response if you ask owners of 5 or 6 bed homes.

Thanks to everyone for your help. We are still in the searching process.

Mainebound, could you tell me which unit you ended up renting for such a good deal at Windsor Hills? I have put in a request for the larger homes to see what we will come up with.

I will look at Terra Verde now and see if there is anything that will work there.

Thanks again!

We rented a pool house in Emerald Island. It was a 4bd/3ba. Beautiful and 5 minutes from Animal Kingdom. Here's the link:
This one,Steve's Gorgeous villa is the one where we stayed:

It had a huge master suite w/king bed and a smaller master with a queen. There were 2 other rooms each with 2 sets of twins. The floor plan is wonderful-there's a games room in the garage. The laundry
room is also in the garage.

This one,Wayne's stunner villa is right next door:
