Need help finding a stuffed Minnie PLEASE READ

Yep...sounds like Minnie has spent the last two years in the hospital slowly having cosmetic surgery and regaining her strength so that she'll be able to keep up with an active child.

This thread had me remember a blanket that I had as a child that my grandma made for me. I, too, would take it over to her house over the years to fix it. Now, it's so old and tattered that I've retired it to a shelf where it sits and I know it's always there.

I'm very happy to here about the new Minnie! I hope she brings your daughter much joy and happiness!

I am so happy for your DD that you found the Minnie, let us know how it goes when your DD sees her.

I've never purchased anything from e-bay so I really hope this seller is reputable and sends the Minnie that is in the picture. What if it's the wrong Minnie? Oh well, I'll let you all know when she shows up. I just hope I get the box first so I can open it and check it out. And I really hope the seller puts in the note. Thanks again for everyones support. I really like the idea of the Cosmetic Surgery -- considerring I live in Palm Beach County FL which is second only to LA in cosmetic surgery that is believable.

What might help is you put a little book together that talks about all of Minnie's adventures while she was away and have Santa give the book with Minnie. By creating the story, you could have Minnie talk about some of the changes (such as new hairbow and that kind of thing) or a walk in a pretty garden where fairies cleaned and mended her clothes. In later years, your daughter will truly appreciate the effort that you made to reunite her with her best friend.

Does the minnie look that different from the one's they sell in the park and stores now? Just curious.

This Minnie looks very different from the ones in the parks now. Her feet aren't so oversized nor are her hands. She's also just a little bigger than Pal Mickey. The dress has smaller polka dots on the skirt and bow with the bodice being solid red. The bodice also has a white collar with white cuffs on the sleeves. AND SHE DOESN"T HAVE A TAIL! I thought that was kind of wierd. Her eyelashes weren't embroidered but actual felt that stuck out. None of the Minnie's that we have seen since Old Minnie dissappeared have even come close.

Interesting! It would be cool to see a picture when you receive it.

If I can ever figure out how to post I will be happy to post pictures of both Old Minnie and the "New" Old Minnie. It's really quite funny how my DD has named all of the stuffed Minnies and Mickeys that she has collected. There's "New New Minnie", Whisker Minnie and Mickey, Skater Minnie, Big Minnie, Mini Minnie, Indian Minnie and Mickey, Neighbor Mickey, etc. When she first started to talk and wanted to distinguish Minnie from Mickey she would say Minnie in her normal voice and the pull her chin down and in a low raspy voice say Minnie. She knew they were different and one was a boy but I guess she just never caught his name. An odd child I have.

I'm working on this. What a great idea.

OK Folks, on Friday as we pulled into the driveway I was a box at the front door. Since I wasn't expecting anything else I knew it must be THE ONE. I had my DD go in through the garage then, when she was occupied, I went out front, grabbed the box, and headed into my bedroom to open it. The first thing I saw was the note exactly as I had asked it to be written. The second thing I saw was Minnie -- the exact Minnie. I of course had to start crying and then realized that my DD was staring at me with a terrifed look on her face as she thought something was terribly wrong. I didn't know what else to do so, keeping Minnie in the box I handed my DD the note. I watched her face as she read it. Her expression went from scared to confused to this look of pure joy. I handed her the box and then we were both crying. She asked me if it was really "My old Minnie" and I told her to believe in the magic of Disney. She shrieked really loud (my ears are still ringing) then proceded to call her DD at work, her babysitter and my Mom. THEN she grabbed Fluffy Minnie and introduced her to Old Minnie as the Minnie that tried really hard to console her during Old Minnie's absence. Next thing I knew there was a party going on in the living room to welcome Old Minnie home. The funny part is that half way through the party my DD came out with Old Minnie and said "Mom, look at this. There is a stain on Old Minnie's head exactly where there was a stain on my Old Minnie's head. I think this really is my Old Minnie. She must of been in one of those Doll Hospitals that fix evertything." and she ran back to finish the party.

Someone else on these boards contacted my to say that they had the correct Minnie and that they would be willing to take pictures of her in various places where they live then forward them to me to help in making the journal of where she was while she was away. I've just got to day how great these boards are. I would never have been able to give my DD such a wonderful gift and since her birthday is just a few days away it was perfect.

Pics of old Minnie and friends?

Who knows being on ebay, it really could be old minnie.
I heard a story once about a guy and a baseball glove
He was an older adult and got this glove either via ebay or a 2nd hand shop. It reminded him of a special glove he had as a kid that his dad or someone special gave him. So, he bought it, then after getting it and looking more carefully, he found his initials or something that made it really his glove. So, he investigated where those folks had gotten the glove from and it turns out after like 40 years he was able to trace the different hands the glove passed to and confirmed it was indeed his child hood glove

I like your daughter's thoughts...special girl with a special mom

I promise to post pics as soon as possible -- that would be when I figure out how to do it and can get my DH to bring the camera home.

Okay, I held back the tears until I read your post about Minnie arriving and you DD's expression!! I am bawling at my desk right now...(an my co-workers think I am nuts!!)

Thank you for sharing the story!!

Trish

What a really, really fantastic story, I love it. Especially the part where it HAD to not have a tail, that one got me. And the fact that the one sent to you had the stain in the exact same place. Could it BE??? Now that would be magical:love: . Great, great story. Thanks so much for it. Oh, you should send this one to Disney, they would love it.

I've been reading this board for two weeks, planning my trip, and just had to register to say that's the sweetest story EVER! I am so glad that your daughter got her "Old Minnie" back, I can only imagine how thrilled you both are. Congratulations!

I don't know if I'm allowed to do this or not so admins, if you have to take it out go ahead. The seller on e-bay was Ladybugs40. If you are looking for a gift please go to her site as she went way beyond what was required of her as a seller. The note she enclosed in the box was perfect. It said what I wanted it to say and either that's the way she writes or she tried really hard but even Minnies "signature" looked right.

The possibility of this being the real Old Minnie is non existent as Old Minnie was soooo loved. Her ears weren't stiff anymore and her dress was in shreads (in fact, I have part of it in my DD's memory box). There is no evidence of my velcro piece to attach bows either. BUT, as long as DD believes it is I can dream.

Is there a way I can save this thread on my computer so I will be able to show it to her later in life? I'd love for her to know how her little story touched so many people. I've got to get a little more computer literate.

How odd your daughter is smart enough to believe in magic and Pixie Dust :wizard:

You should learn from your daughter.
I believe it is old Minnie who got fixed up along the way by fairies at the doll hospital. A child KNOWS their doll, even down to the stain :cloud9:
