Hi,
We are planning a trip to WDW 10/4/03-10/11/03. We really need a 2 bedroom. I have checked the prices on the dvc rent/trade board and staying in a WDW resort is still too expensive for us right now. Are there any resorts in the downtown disney area that have 2 bedrooms? We also need a kitchenette? Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Jill

What budget did you have in mind? Have you thought about two rooms perhaps?

Do you have to be right on side - maybe Sheraton Vistana would work for you or one of the private vacation homes over at 535/192 area near Osceloa Pkwy?

Thanks

Jason,

We really want to stay on disney property. My daughter is disabled so we really like to keep it as simple as we can.
My parents are also coming this year, that's why we need 2 bedrooms.

I am trying to stay within a 1500.00 budget for lodging. We would consider 2 rooms if they had the right accomodations.

Thanks,
Jill

when you said kinchenette, did you mean just microwave and fridge,or do you need a full kitchen?

luvindisneyworld,

Just microwave and fridge would be fine.
Thanks,
Jill

i was checking and you could get 2 studioes at OKW for 82 points each for the week.so if you could find someone that had 164 points at 10.00 a point that would be 1640.00.the OKW studioes are huge.
Hope this helps.

Jills, this might be helpful

Cross post your query into the "Budget Board" and "Orlando Hotels and Attractions" noting specifically your target budget amount. Someone might have some creative ideas there are for example know that one of the non-Disney properties located in Downtown Disney would work out.

Another approach as follows which gets you close to your $1500 lodging budget but is not perfect and may be too disruptive considering your special circumstances:

Rent via DVC Board Points, a 2 Bedroom at OKW for your 10/5 Sunday night and to leave Friday 10/10 - this would be:

Sunday/Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday - 5 nights in a Two Bedroom at 24 pts a night for 120 pts total - typical going rate is $10 a point so that would be $1200

Saturday 10/4 and Friday 10/10 - since points so high with DVC it would bust your budget - need two rooms at perhaps the All Stars but need to tell Disney since you have a special and blessed child that you need guaranteed ground floor rooms which they would do for you as long as they know. The rack rates for this period are $99/room/night so you would be looking at $400 (+ 12%tax) here for rack rates - good likelihood of being able to get discounts though. Get a mini Fridge for one of the rooms at $10 per night

However this would mean in essence three places staying over 7 nights which could be really tough but does keep you on Disney property at about the $1600 range assuming no discounts on All Stars

Also your location - if you are a Florida resident you might be able to get lower rates at the All Stars

Not a perfect solution but might be helpful

Thanks
Jason

Jason,

What a great post!! That's what the people of the DIS are all about.

Jills,
Hope you find the info you need. Jason's scenario does sound great.

Just a note you might want to check that the downtown disney hotel bus is handicapped accessible.

If you do not need the 2 bedroom as described below, and a kitchenette is acceptable, instead of the OKW 2-bedroom substitute 2 OKW studios. The advantage to this - the studios are 8 points / night in this timeframe. 80 points total for 2 studios, Sun - Thursday @ $10/point rental is $800, leaving you $700 in your budget for the other two nights.

BTW, without knowing how flexible your travel plans are if you were able to move your vacation time one day either way you would only need to stay at two locations to realize these savings, instead of three.
