My husband and I have visisted DisneyWorld many many times and have always stayed off site at very nice timeshares. Of course I've always wanted to stay on site but never been able to justify the cost.

So when the free dining came up for September I thought . . hmmm.

We already have tickets from purchasing the 10 day pass a few months ago so . . . .

I booked a moderate (Caribbean) standard view with one day for a park (which you have to have) and got the delux dining plan because we like some of the signature restaurants. The price came out to be $1531. I was all excited and then started thinking.

Our timeshare costs us $169 for the week and we have a large condo. So starting with $1531 - $169 = $1,362 for food for six days which would be $227.00 a day. All of a sudden I'm thinking hmmm . . .

so can anyone tell me why I should stay on site and spend that type of $$. I know everyone loves on site but I'm just curious . . . Please don't yell at me . . . I'm really trying to figure out how to justify this. FYI - we would rent a car either way. Thanks for your help.

IMHO if you can get a timeshare for $169. a week (u did say a WEEK?)
I see absolutely no value to staying on property.
Lets face it, for the money you will save you could splurge for the California Grill, Artist Point & Victoria and Alberts and still be $ ahead.
:confused3

You mean besides ME (being able to walk off the plane and bypass baggage claim and my bags are magically in my room), resort package delivery, EMH, and the ability to make all my ADR's in one phone? That's enough for me. It means I don't have to drive or rent a car, something you didn't factor into your totals. Not driving in FL is priceless to me. Plus, I'm always immersed in Disney magic.

I agree that it's probably not worth it, especially since you already have your passes. I also think that the free dining plan forces your trip to really center around meals, getting from ADR to ADR, etc. I prefer to splurge where I want to splurge and eat a quick burger when I'm more interested in the park attractions.

If you are for sure going to rent a car AND you already have your tickets....I don't know if it's financially worth it to you. EMH really makes it worth it to use personally, but if you don't think you are going to use it, I don't know. Do you have Park Hoppers?

To each his own, but I still don't believe its worth the difference when your ENTIRE rooming expense would be $169!
Of course you always give up something when you save money, but then you always get something too.....Like keeping the $$$:cool1:

Thanks for your input. Yes our entire lodging would be $169 for the week. We have our passes and would rent a car. I think I'll price it out rater on but there is no way we would do 2 table serve restaurants a day for the delux. And even taking out the deluxe it would still be about $1100 and for that we can eat at some very nice places. Thanks for your help.
