My mom, myself and my two boys (ages 7.5 and 5.5) will be going to Disney in November. Not doing the dining plan, plan on eating OK but not going overboard. We are going to do one character breakfast. Which one would you recommend? We are looking at probably either Chef Mickey's or Donald's Breakfastosaurus. I'm wondering what your thoughts are as far as which one you think would be better? The boys have never been to WDW, so they'll just be thrilled to see any characters. I haven't been in about 25 years (don't do the math :goodvibes ) so I'm just looking forward to having fun. Any help is appreciated - thanks! :listen:

I know that a lot of people really like Donald's. We were there a few years ago and found the set up very poor. The lines for the hot food were crazy and we settled for the cold items after our first plate. We always found Chef Mickey's to be a lot of fun with a far more sensible set up. To me it's obvious that Chef Mickey's was set up for a buffet and can handle a lot of people easily and efficiently. It's always fun to see Goofy carrying on in the lobby. Can't remember much about the food choices at either, but always had great breakfasts and dinners at Chef Mickey's.

Have you considereed the Crystal Palace? An early lunch there would make an excellent brunch.

Unfortunately, we have found that most (actually, all that we have tried) of the character breakfasts feature the same rather poor fare. Sugary french toast, scrambled eggs, that sort of thing.

Chef Mickeys, no doubt about it! :earboy2:

My DH and I took our boys last year for the first time as a surprise. Thanks to this board and all the info I got we had the most wonderful time. It is amazing what a little (okay a lot) of research can do. Everything from the plane ride there to the hotel and food we were able to make truly magical. We absolutly had the time of our lives and I hope you do too. Please feel free to ask me any questions. Good luck and happy planning!

I must say we like Donald's a LOT more than CM. To me, CM and the Contemporary don't have the same Disney feel as most other places. The modern, trendy style doesn't fit in my mind. (Others disagree). CM was okay, but the breakfast was just okay too. Donald's has a great selection of foods....DH and I like opposite kinds of bf foods - he likes the heavy stuff like eggs, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, etc....the traditional foods; I like the bread-y types, like donuts, muffins, etc. Donald's has a large selection of both....and the coffee cake it to die for! :) It's such a fun little restaurant, we really enjoy it.
